RWS CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATIONS
Issued by the RWS Championship Governing Body
Effective Date: 23 September 2026
⸻
1. STATUS OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP
1.1 The RWS Championship is a recognised championship of Ring Wrestling Stars (RWS).
1.2 The RWS Championship Governing Body (“the Governing Body”) is the final authority in matters relating specifically to the regulation, recognition, administration and integrity of the RWS Championship.
1.3 The Governing Body operates independently of individual competitors and shall exercise its authority without favour or prejudice.
1.4 The Championship shall be defended in accordance with these Regulations unless the Governing Body formally authorises an alternative provision.
⸻
2. THE CHAMPION
2.1 The recognised RWS Champion is the competitor officially recorded as holding the Championship by the Governing Body.
2.2 The Champion is required to defend the Championship when formally sanctioned to do so.
2.3 A Champion may not voluntarily relinquish the Championship except with the acknowledgement of the Governing Body.
2.4 Failure to defend the Championship without reasonable cause may result in the Governing Body reviewing the Champion’s status.
2.5 Where a Champion is unable to fulfil their championship obligations due to injury, illness, suspension or other circumstances, the Governing Body may determine appropriate action.
⸻
3. CHALLENGERS
3.1 Championship challengers must be formally recognised and sanctioned by the Governing Body.
3.2 A competitor’s status as a challenger does not, in itself, guarantee an immediate Championship match.
3.3 The Governing Body may consider competitive results, previous championship performances, rankings, contractual circumstances, conduct and other relevant factors when determining championship eligibility.
3.4 The Governing Body reserves the right to reject a proposed challenger where sufficient grounds exist to do so.
⸻
4. CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES
4.1 All RWS Championship matches must be formally sanctioned by the Governing Body.
4.2 Unless otherwise specified prior to the match, Championship matches shall be contested under standard professional wrestling rules.
4.3 The Championship may change hands by:
* Pinfall
* Submission
* Referee stoppage, where applicable
* Any other method expressly authorised by the Governing Body prior to the contest
4.4 A competitor may not be recognised as Champion solely by virtue of defeating the Champion in an unsanctioned contest.
4.5 Where a special stipulation is proposed, the Governing Body shall have authority to approve, amend or reject that stipulation.
⸻
5. DISQUALIFICATION AND COUNT-OUT
5.1 Unless expressly stated otherwise before the contest, a disqualification or count-out shall not result in the Championship changing hands.
5.2 The incumbent Champion shall retain the Championship following a disqualification or count-out unless the Governing Body has expressly sanctioned an alternative provision.
5.3 Where a Championship match is contested under a stipulation permitting the title to change hands by disqualification or count-out, that provision must be announced before the match begins.
⸻
6. DRAWN OR INCONCLUSIVE CONTESTS
6.1 In the event of a time-limit draw, double pinfall, simultaneous submission, referee stoppage or other inconclusive result, the Championship shall ordinarily remain with the incumbent Champion.
6.2 The Governing Body may order a rematch where circumstances warrant.
6.3 The Governing Body may impose additional conditions upon a rematch, including a change of stipulation, time limit or number of competitors.
6.4 A Championship cannot be declared to have changed hands where the result cannot be conclusively established.
⸻
7. OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE
7.1 Deliberate outside interference in a Championship match is prohibited.
7.2 Where outside interference materially affects the outcome of a Championship match, the Governing Body may review the result.
7.3 Following such a review, the Governing Body may:
* Uphold the result
* Order a rematch
* Vacate the Championship
* Suspend or otherwise sanction an involved competitor
* Take any other action deemed necessary to protect the integrity of the Championship
7.4 The Governing Body’s decision following a formal review shall be final.
⸻
8. REFEREE’S AUTHORITY
8.1 The appointed referee has full authority to officiate the Championship match and determine the result in accordance with the rules applicable to that contest.
8.2 Competitors are required to respect the referee’s instructions.
8.3 The Governing Body shall not ordinarily intervene in the referee’s decision during a contest.
8.4 Where credible evidence exists that a referee’s decision was materially compromised by error, misconduct, interference or circumstances beyond the referee’s control, the Governing Body may conduct a post-match review.
⸻
9. CHAMPIONSHIP VACANCIES
9.1 The Governing Body may declare the Championship vacant
