Today is World Rewilding Day 🌿

At Planted, we believe that nature doesn’t need perfect plans — it needs space, patience, and the chance to thrive again. Rewilding is about stepping back, restoring balance, and reconnecting with the wild places around us.

We’re continually inspired by our friends who are creating space for biodiversity to return and ecosystems to flourish right here in our local landscape. Their work is a reminder that meaningful change starts close to home

Whether it’s letting a corner of your garden grow wild, planting for pollinators, or simply spending time noticing the nature around you — small actions matter.

Let’s keep growing a community that nurtures nature.

Next month, Japanese heritage brand - a B Corp certified guardian of centuries-old craft will host a series of Matcha Tea Ceremonies and workshops across London.

With over 500 years of craftsmanship behind them, Nakagawa continues to show how tradition and sustainability can evolve together. Their philosophy of “preservation through transformation” aligns with our values at Planted: design that respects people, planet, and the makers at the heart of every object.

Running from 29 November to 7 December, the programme invites Londoners to slow down and experience the art of mindful making.

At its centre is Master Craftsman Tango Tanimura—the 20th-generation chasen (tea whisk) maker whose family has been shaping this essential tea-ceremony tool for nearly 500 years. Guests will have a rare opportunity to observe and learn directly from him at Yorkton Workshops in East London

Additional Matcha Tea Ceremonies will take place .hq and , offering gentle, grounding moments amid the winter rush.

If you’re curious about cultural craft, mindful rituals or slow design in practice, this is one to mark in the diary.

29 November – 7 December 2025

🌿 Winner announced 🌿

We’re delighted to announce McCaffray from the University of Cambridge (MA Architecture) as the winner of our inaugural Design for Regeneration student competition, delivered in partnership with Vectorworks.

Erin’s project, “Towards the River Clyde,” beautifully reimagines a post-industrial stretch of Scotland’s most famous river - reconnecting people, place, and nature through sensitive, regenerative design.

Following a live five-minute pitch at Vectorworks’ annual Design Days Conference, Erin was voted the winner by the audience, receiving £1,000 cash prize, a one-year Vectorworks Design Suite subscription and a two-night stay in Planted’s off-grid cabin.

Erin said “With family roots in the River Clyde’s shipyards, it’s been deeply meaningful to present my regenerative design ideas for an ex-industrial waterfront. This experience has reaffirmed my belief that Port Glasgow deserves the chance to reconnect with and celebrate the beauty of this remarkable stretch of the River Clyde.”

We’d also like to congratulate finalists Jamie Ferguson (University of Bath) and .arch Adam Saint (Leeds Beckett University) for reaching the final three and sharing their inspiring projects live on stage.

“The standard of entries was outstanding. Erin’s project stood out for its clarity of storytelling, connection to the land, and visual representation. The UK design industry’s future looks bright with such talented, environmentally conscious young designers coming through.” Said Planted co-founder Sam Peters.

Students from more than 100 design courses across the UK entered the competition.

A heartfelt thank you to Vectorworks, our judges , Dr Alia Fadel, Tamsin Slatter & Martyn Horne and all participating students for sharing your visions for a more regenerative world.
