SALCOMBE LIFEBOAT DISASTER 1916 - A FILMSHOW & TALK AT CLIFF HOUSE, JULY 28TH
110 years ago the Salcombe Lifeboat 'William and Emma' capsized in near hurricane force winds whilst attempting to return home across the Bar. She was returning from a fruitless mission near Prawle Point. In what was one of the worst disasters in the history of the RNLI, 13 of her 15 man crew were lost.
To mark the centenary in 2016 a film, based on Roger Barrett's book about the disaster, was made for Salcombe RNLI by Chris Tizzard and narrated by Adam Hart Davis and Monty Halls.
The film together with a short talk by Roger Barrett will be shown again during Town Regatta week at 4pm on Tuesday, July 28th at Cliff House. All are welcome. Tickets will be sold on the door and all proceeds will be shared between Salcombe RNLI and Salcombe Maritime Museum. Copies of Roger Barrett's recently reprinted book will be on sale.

This weekend, you’re invited to come and have a look around one of Salcombe’s most iconic waterfront buildings.

There’ll be a Pimm’s bar, Wimbledon on the screen, strawberries and cream, and of course those beautiful estuary views. 🎾 🍓 🌊

Open from 3pm–7pm. Come along, take a peek and rediscover Cliff House and support this much-loved local building and charity.
