Sneak peek of Jemma and Alex’s St Ives Harbour Hotel Wedding today…….

It’s been a early morning, whizzing down the A30 to St Ives, loading and unloading the van, preparing the ceremony flowers and decorations, pinning on buttonholes, advising the bride and bridesmaid how to hold their flowers. Now waiting to change the room around for the reception, so the couple can relax and enjoy their day. …….
Congratulations to you both .

A week ago today, I visited the wonderful celebration of Helston’s Flora Day — a tradition so deeply woven into Cornwall’s history and community spirit. The streets were alive with beautiful dancers moving through the town in their finery, while shops and doorways were decorated with Cornish bluebells, gorse, and fresh greenery in celebration of spring.

Dancers and spectators alike wore the sweet scent of lily of the valley buttonholes, one of the most iconic symbols of the day. It’s always inspiring to see how flowers become such an important part of fashion and tradition too — from delicate floral details and corsages to beautiful headdresses inspired by the season and the celebration itself.

The famous Furry Dance dates back centuries and is believed to celebrate the arrival of spring and the renewal of life after winter. Led through the streets by the unforgettable music of the Flora Dance played by Helston Town Band, the whole town becomes part of the tradition.

It was especially lovely to watch my sister, brother-in-law, and nieces dancing through the streets to the iconic tune — such a special moment and a reminder of how important these traditions are for bringing generations together.

A truly beautiful Cornish celebration filled with music, flowers, community, heritage, and tradition 🌿💙🎶
