The Old English roses are looking particularly beautiful at Pudding Field Flowers this week.
Growing in the softest sorbet shades of blush, peach, apricot and cream, these exquisitely perfumed roses are among my favourite flowers to use in my funeral floristry work.

There’s something so special about seeing lilacs burst into bloom just as the narcissi and tulips fade away. I feel incredibly lucky to have several large, mature shrubs, and even more on the way after planting new one’s last year
Their fragrance is simply gorgeous. That soft, calming scent comes from linalool, a natural compound also found in lavender, known for its relaxing effect.
From delicate pinks to rich purples, soft mauves to creamy whites (and even the rare yellow!), lilacs bring such beautiful variety. With over 1,000 varieties, there’s always something new to fall in love with.
They’re not just a treat for us either, lilacs attract butterflies and hummingbird moths, adding even more life and movement to the garden
Cut stems, are just stunning in arrangements.
Lilacs have long been a symbol of first love… and honestly, it’s easy to see why.

Last week I made a delicate spring birch heart for a memorial. Twisting and weaving the birch into shape, then adding moss to arrange the foliage and flowers into. Families often like to keep the birch heart as a keep sake and can use it again.

I used my new Niwaki Hori Hori today. Watch how it makes such light work of planting a spare bag of Tulip Alicante I found in the barn. Such beautiful peony tulips to keep for myself, to flower in pots outside the garden room.
I’m now off to sow Sweet Peas and think about what Dahlias I need to order.

Over the last few days I have been cutting the last of the flowers to enjoy in the house as we are due our first frost. I have cut the Dahlia’s down so I don’t have to handle them when they are all slushy, topped the beds with homemade compost ( year old stable bedding thanks to the horses), and finally give a duvet of old straw bales. They are all now nicely put to bed for winter 😊
