Right… hear us out, Saddleworth.
Before Oktoberfest kicks off at 12pm on Saturday 3rd October at Uppermill Civic Hall, we’re floating an idea that’s either genius… or we’ve had one pretzel too many:
👉 THE GREAT OOMPAH RUN
A r**t proper local run… but with lederhosen, dirndls, and maximum oompah energy.
And yes — we’re looking at you, Saddleworth Santa Dash 🎅… 👀
Because this could be the one that gets even more runners and (let’s be honest) even more YouTube views.
Organiser Franz (who really is actually Austrian, so you can’t argue with the accent) said:
“Oktoberfest has been running for a couple of years now… but it’s time to make it into an actual run.”
He added that discussions are already underway with planning officials and local taxi firms to help manage the expected numbers — because if this happens, it’s going to be proper busy, says Franz in his Manchester-Austrian accent.
And when asked about support from Saddleworth Round Table, Franz didn’t hold back:
“I tried to engage their support….but they’d seen their auss.” 😅
We’re aiming for good vibes and proper community energy — not just the party people who fancy turning up in saucy lederhosen (no judgement).
