Season 25/26 wrapped up in style! 🐯🧡🖤⚽️

The U13 Thundercats travelled to Oadby for the last game of their season, knowing that a win or draw would secure 3rd place in the Platinum League. What followed was an absolute cracker of a game.

Oadby, at full strength, came flying out of the blocks and raced into a 2-0 lead within the first five minutes. But this Thundercats team never knows when it’s beaten. After riding out the early storm, some inspired words at half-time and the girls’ determination to succeed saw them emerge for the second half with renewed belief.

Two outstanding quick-fire goals brought us level before Oadby’s talented midfielder restored their lead with a top-class free kick. The response from the RB girls was superb. Driven, composed and playing some lovely passing football, they scored two more brilliant goals to complete a fantastic 4-3 victory and secure 3rd place in the Platinum League.

Considering the quality of the league, this is a huge achievement and one the girls should be incredibly proud of.

This group never ceases to amaze us. Their chemistry, not only as teammates but as great friends, shines through every week. They play attacking football in their own unique style, and it is an absolute joy to watch as coaches and parents.

A well-deserved break now awaits before we begin building towards the 26/27 season.

Next up was the very well-organised Inkberrow Tournament. With the format being 7-a-side, our U15s entered 2 squads.

Not only did both teams top their respective groups, but they also went on to win their semi-finals on penalties! ⚽️

That set up an all-Borough final 🧡💙

One of our parents said, “In all honesty, it was one of the best finals I’ve ever witnessed. The football on display was brilliant, but what stood out most was seeing the girls smiling, laughing, and enjoying every minute of it.”

In the end, the final went to a penalty shootout that came down to goalkeeper versus goalkeeper, with the Oranges just edging the victory.

The best part? As soon as it was over, all the girls celebrated together. One club, one team spirit, and all the silverware coming back to Borough today! 🏆🏆

So proud of every single player.

The U11 Leopards also gave a great account of themselves at the Whetstone Tournament yesterday.

A team full of heart and determination, they competed brilliantly throughout the day and were unfortunate to lose out in the Plate semi-final.

The margins were incredibly fine, but the effort, commitment, and attitude shown by every player was outstanding.

Plenty to be proud of, and plenty to build on. Heads held high, learn from the experience, and go again. 🧡

Our U11 Lionesses were also in action at the Whetstone Tournament yesterday.

It was a very high-level competition, and while the girls all performed brilliantly individually, they didn’t quite click as a team in the way we know they can.

After a hard-fought day, they reached the Europa League Final, where they were narrowly beaten on penalties. There were a few tears at the final whistle, but setbacks are all part of the journey, and this talented group will learn and grow from the experience.

“As coaches, we’re always incredibly proud of their effort, attitude, and determination. “

Keep your heads high Lionesses 🧡

Some excellent performances from the U9 Tigers at the Whetstone Tournament yesterday!

The girls topped their group with 2 wins and 2 draws before producing a dominant display in the semi-final, running out 4-0 winners to secure their place in the final.

Unfortunately, despite creating the better chances and controlling much of the game, they were beaten 2-1 in the final, finishing as runners-up for the second tournament in a row.

The coaches commented, “we are so proud of all the girls. Naturally, they were disappointed with the result, but they should take a huge amount of confidence from their performances throughout the day. One of the most pleasing aspects was the way they responded when going a goal behind in a couple of matches; they showed great character, never let their heads drop, and kept fighting until the final whistle.”

Another fantastic day of football, teamwork, and development, with plenty of positives to build on.

It was also great to bump into a few of the other RB teams throughout the day and see so many girls enjoying their football. 🧡

Keep your heads high Tigers, your hard work and attitude make us incredibly proud!

Another weekend of tournaments ⚽️

First up, the U8 Lynxes, who gave a fantastic account of themselves yesterday at the Whetstone Athletic Tournament. Competing against some physical teams, the girls battled their way through the group stage to finish 3rd and earn a place in the semi-finals, where they were narrowly defeated.

We are incredibly proud of every single player and the effort they put in during their first-ever tournament. They celebrated the wins and goals, learnt valuable lessons from the defeats, and showed great determination throughout the day. The coaches also learnt plenty too, and will be taking those lessons into the RB Tournament at the end of the month.

The coaches said, “We couldn’t have asked for any more from the girls. While there were a few tears after the semi-final defeat, there were plenty of smiles by the time they collected their medals. The team spirit on display was outstanding, and we’d also like to thank all the parents for their fantastic support throughout the day.” 🥉🧡

We’re looking for players to join our U18 Female Talent Pathway squads for 2026/27! 🧡🖤

Both squads still have spaces available and we want to hear from talented players ready to compete at the highest level of girls football. The pathway competes in the JPL Warriors, the national girls league, with two weekly training sessions, Individual Development Plans, access to physio support, and a direct route into senior women’s football.

You can play grassroots and pathway football side by side, so this doesn’t mean giving anything up, it means adding the next level on top.

There's a story behind our new away kit design, and it starts 100 years ago in Rugby.

In 1926 the Rugby Radio Station opened just a few kilometres from our home at Kilsby Lane. From that site, the first ever transatlantic radio broadcast was made, a signal sent from Rugby all the way to the United States.

The ambition. The impact. The reach.

That's exactly what Rugby Borough Women & Girls FC is about.
We wanted our new away kit to represent our local history, and the soundwave design is our tribute to that. Just like that station, we have big ambitions and we intend to make an impact. Our girls are loud, proud and making waves in football.

From our youngest Wildcats taking their first kicks, to our girls progressing through our new female pathway towards the women's team, this club is committed to growing the game, opening doors and making football accessible to all girls.

This season we take big steps, entering the national JPL league for the first time and taking our badge even further. From the same place that once broadcast to the world, we are making our own waves.
