So we dug up the dahlias yesterday. This is what I do every year, there are other ways.πΈ
We dig them up carefully, cut stalks down, and leave enough stem for me to carry them still. Take off as much soil as possible then label and turn them upside-down (or on angle) to dry off. I leave them for about a week in my greenhouse, then I can get some more soil off before we store them under the stairs until next spring. That's when we pot them up indoors to let them shoot and plant out around may depending on the weather.
Now I don't know the names of all my dahlias and that's fine by me, but I do like to know what colour is what before I replant them. So don't worry if you don't know name, large pink or small pompom is totally fine. Then you know where you is the best spot for them in your garden.
Also remember to check for diseases. Especially Gall, it looks like knobbly little shoot (Google it). If you have with this DO NOT keep them. Throw them away and font compost them. πππ€π»π€π»πΈπΈ
