So, before you ask.....
TENTS IN KENT 2026
FRIDAY 28th AUGUST TO MONDAY 31st AUGUST 2026
£65 FOR THE WEEKEND
ADAMSWELL SCOUT CAMPSITE, BROOM LANE, LANGTON GREEN, TUNBRIDGE WELLS TN3 9JL
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…..
1. Who can attend Tents in Kent? Tents in Kent is camp for women, so if you are a woman, over 18 years old, you can join us at Adamswell. It is worth saying again – we are totally independent from WI, and have no support, financial or organisational, from any part of WI. If you are a WI member, you will be welcomed, as you will if you are not, or no longer a member.
2. Can I bring my Campervan or Caravan? Yes. Normally we have access to a whole field for Campervans and Caravans, unless the weather before camp has been exceptionally wet when you can park on a hard-standing area. If you want to be near friends with tents, they can camp near you in the field. Vehicles are not permitted on other fields.
3. Is there indoor accommodation available? No.
4. What do I do about food over the weekend? You will need to feed yourself, either individually or with friends. There is a fully fitted kitchen on site – a fridge and freezer, microwave, hob and oven (industrial scale!). There is also a hot water heater for tea, coffee etc – we provide the basics, but you can bring your own! There are some plates, glasses, mugs and cutlery available, but we strongly recommend bringing your own. You can, of course, use your own camp kitchen set-up, but please ensure you do not set anything on fire!! BBQs are allowed if they are off the ground and monitored closely. Disposable BBQs are NOT permitted. You can book a Supermarket delivery, but you must be at the gate when it arrives! If you don’t want to cook the usual range of takeaway deliveries are available.
5. Can I bring my dog to camp? No.
6. What is there to do during the weekend? We will have a very varied programme, including craft demos, workshops and the Yarnarama tent where all manner of yarn-related activity – and socialising – takes place. ‘Adamswell Activities’ this year are Axe-throwing, Archery, Climbing and Air-rifle shooting – these will be booked and paid for separately nearer to the date. We may have a speaker. I may be persuaded to do a Recorder workshop…. We will be asking for offers for workshops etc soon. There may be an extra charge for some workshops eg for materials, but you will know in advance! Also, a Scavenger Hunt, at least one Campfire, and Badger Watch …… We will be asking for offers of workshops etc soon, as well as suggestions for anything else!

See you there!

Introducing BLUEBELL BADGER
At Tents in Kent 2024, several Bdger Watch members mentioned their disappointment that there was no Badger Raffle... I said I would see what I could do, so here is Bluebell.
She is 30 cm tall, and wears cotton dungarees with a bluebell pattern. She is made from high quality synthetic fur fabric, with traditional cotter-pin joints, and glass eyes and nose - this means that she is not suitable for children.

Tickets cost £1 each, and there is no limit to the number you can buy! Please pay by Bank Transfer - 60-60-08 56293453 Fielding AJ Tents; ot PayPal - [email protected]. I will then send you your ticket numbers.

All proceeds will go to Folly Wildlife Rescue who help with Badger rescue as well as other wildlife! www.follywildliferescue.org.uk

IMPORTANT!
We would like to confirm that we will NOT be holding Tents in Kent in 2025. After 3 years, we need a break! It was always our intention to hold the camping weekend every other year, but COVID intervened, and we could not hold 2020 or 2021, and we then found ourselves doing every year!
I have asked Adamswell to book us in for 2026, and will confirm the dates as soon as we have agreed them.
So watch this space for information about a refreshed Tents in Kent 2026!!

This is very hard to write....
We do not yet have enough bookings to be a viable camp - we have 35 bookings so far which is only half way to the minimum we need to break even. Our next, non-returnable, deposit of £1000 is due at the beginning of June, so we need another 20 bookings to ensure we can go ahead - I think the remaining will likely be booked following the payment.
If we do not get the 20 bookings in the next couple of weeks, I will need to cancel our camp!
So, do spread the word to your friends - here is the link to the Registration Form.

Here's to a great 2024!!
We want to start the planning process in more detail now that we are in 2024, and would like to remind everyone to get your booking in as soon as possible. Let's make 2024 even better than last year! I know some of you won't know yet whether you can take leave for the weekend, and we can't keep places until you have registered and paid your deposit, but we can be very flexible as we have the whole site! If you do hope to come, but can't book yet, do let us know as that wll help with the planning of activities, workshops, talks etc!!
We would also remind you that you do not need to be a WI member (yet....!!) to come along for the weekend to find out 'what it is all about!'
