I’ve been keeping a secret 🤫

I had an air conditioning unit installed by the wonderful guys over at Temp Technical! I absolutely love it! It’s so much colder and quieter than my portable air conditioning unit and it was installed just before this heatwave too!

My flowers are kept in perfect conditions before they reach you. I also invested in a humidifier too which has an app so I’m constantly looking to make sure everything is a ok! 👌 Think of me like Caleb from Clarkson’s Farm just watching the tech at work!

It’s scorching hot this week and I just wanted to share some tips on keeping your flowers fresh when the weather is 🔥

1. Start with a clean vase - Bacteria will grow on dirty vases which will shorten the life of your flowers (and dirty vases don’t look too good either!)
2. Use fresh water - Tepid water is fine, not hot and not freezing cold. The water will come up to room temperature quite quickly. I always put flower food in with my bouquets which helps keep the water clean but if you don’t have any to hand, change the water every couple of days (and re wash the vase!)
3. The amount of water is important too! Flowers will drink a lot in hot weather so keep an eye on the water level.
4. Cut your stems - This is so important as it opens up fresh new cells in the flower stem which ultimately aids the uptake of water. A few centimetres is fine if your flowers have been in water but if you’ve had them out of water for any length of time, cut about 5-7cm off as those cells will be dry!
5. Make sure there’s only stems in the water - Leaves that end up in the water will start to rot and turn the water murky and allow bacteria to grow.
6. Keep your flowers out of direct sunlight and draughts - Choose a cool spot in the house where you can still enjoy them!
