Join us at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 16 October for a moving Festival of Remembrance, bringing together communities from across the borough to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community.

Organised by the council in partnership with local veterans’ organisations, this special evening will pay tribute to service personnel past and present through music, reflection and remembrance.

The programme will feature performances by military bands, an act of remembrance, historic wartime stories and an opportunity for guests to come together in shared reflection.

Tickets are £15 and include a traditional pie and pea supper. The event begins at 7pm.

Please note the following events and closures at Rochdale Town Hall:

Wednesday 30 September: The Large Exchange, Old Council Chamber and Welcome Gallery will be closed from 2pm.

Friday 2 October: The Large Exchange, Old Council Chamber, Welcome Gallery and Great Hall will be closed from 2pm.

Saturday 3 October: The Large Exchange, Old Council Chamber, Welcome Gallery and Great Hall will be closed from 1pm.

Sunday 4 October: The whole building will be closed from 2pm whilst we host this month's SEND Sunday.

❤️ Stories like this are what Rochdale Town Hall is all about.

Recently, two former members of staff returned to Rochdale Town Hall, travelling from Sheffield and the Ribble Valley to revisit a place that played an important part in their careers.

Having worked in Committee Administration during the late 1970s and 1980s, they spent many happy years in the mezzanine office space at the top of the building. During their visit, they hoped to see the area once again and were delighted when one of our volunteers, Andrew, was able to help.

Now known as the Bright Room, the space has been beautifully restored as part of the Town Hall's transformation. Our visitors shared how wonderful it was to return and see the area looking so impressive, while reminiscing about the years they spent working there.

They also asked us to pass on their thanks to Andrew for his enthusiasm, knowledge and kindness, which helped make their visit so memorable.

It's always special to hear stories from people who have a personal connection to Rochdale Town Hall, and we're incredibly grateful to our volunteers for helping to create these moments every day.

A huge thank you to Andrew and to all our volunteers who help bring the Town Hall's past and present together for visitors from near and far. 💛

Behind our award-winning Town Hall is an incredible community of people who help bring it to life every day. 💛

Last week, we were proud to celebrate our volunteers as we marked Rochdale Town Hall's success at the European Heritage Awards (Europa Nostra Awards).

The Awards Jury praised the restoration for helping to rebuild public trust, civic pride and a sense of shared ownership within the local community. Our volunteers embody that spirit every day, welcoming visitors, supporting events and helping people connect with the Town Hall's remarkable story.

✨ What a fantastic weekend at Steampunk ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped bring the Town Hall to life with incredible costumes, creativity and community spirit. It was wonderful to see so many visitors exploring the building and embracing the magic of the event.

A special thank you to all the organisers, traders, performers, volunteers and staff who worked so hard behind the scenes.

Most of all, thank you to every single person who came along and made it such a memorable celebration. We loved welcoming you and can't wait to do it all again!
