These stained glass workshops create an opportunity to experience a craft that is often inaccessible to most, due to the expensive equipment needed to start this hobby.

Learn the brilliant craft of needle felting to design your own unique Halloween decorations. You can create some beautiful seasonal felted pumpkins or an autumnal wreath - both features can be used year after year. Or, if you are missing the warmth of summer, you can opt to create a beautiful sunflower.

This workshop is suitable for adults and children aged 10+ years of age.
All materials and tuition are included.

Katy Small is your tutor for the workshop. She is a felt artist, maker and teacher who exhibits mainly in Yorkshire. You can find her at many Art fairs and festivals. Katy was a secondary school teacher for 24 years before taking the plunge to set up her own art and craft business. Katy hosts workshops all over Yorkshire and beyond, teaching adults and children alike, in groups and families. She is a member of Artists Around Wetherby and the International Feltmaker’s Association.

Come and have fun this Halloween in the beautiful Sensory Tipi, on Parliament Street, in the centre of York.

Every day there's a different workshop for our younger visitors. You could make a yarn ghost, an origami bat, a lollipop spiders web or there's bath bomb painting, potion making, biscuit decorating and slime making.

Join us for a relaxed willow weaving workshop where you will be led through the creative process involved to turn this natural material into a beautiful decoration.

One of the four options available is to learn how to weave a five-pointed willow star. Use your completed star as part of your Halloween celebrations or even save it to use as a Christmas decoration!

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, however willow weaving requires a reasonable level of hand strength and dexterity.

Age: 14+, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Mike Bennett from Must Forge is offering a unique opportunity for you to make your own metal rose from either steel or copper.

Creating beautiful metal roses, having made them in his forge for many years, he has developed a method of tuition that allows even a novice to create a beautiful metal rose to take home.

Workshops will take place in the Blacksmithing Pop-up marquee situated on Parliament Street in the heart of York as part of the Yorkshire Halloween Festival from 22nd October to 30th October 2026.
