Today I had the honour of leading a celebration of a much‑loved man, aged 73, who was a devoted husband, dad, brother and friend.

Upon his request, he was piped into the crematorium; a beautiful and very personal way to begin his final journey.

A former trolley boy, gardener, sawyer and bin man, he was also a proud caregiver at home; someone who gave his time, his humour and his heart to the people he loved.

He was a man of passions: conversation, music from the 60s and 70s, sci‑fi and horror films, gardening, caravanning, comedy shows, whistling his own little tunes and enjoying little pleasures like sausage, egg and chips and a lager shandy. His life was shaped by kindness, equality, helping others and the belief that family always comes first.

A life full of warmth, laughter, stories and love and one that will be remembered always.

It was an honour to tell his story 🩶

Today we honoured a man whose laughter, stories and spirit could fill any room.

At 60, his world revolved around family, driving, pool and darts, karaoke nights, spicy curries and holidays under golden skies.

A true character who loved fixing engines, planning adventures and making everyone smile; his legacy is warmth, humour and unforgettable presence.

It was an honour to tell his story 🎱

Humbled to receive such a beautiful review 🩶

Today I had the privilege of leading a celebration of life for a much loved man, aged 78, whose story was woven deeply into the heart of his family. A hardworking soul throughout his life, he spent his career as a tailor, an HGV driver, a BT engineer and later a town hall manager, always providing, always showing up, always giving his best.

He was a man of simple joys and strong passions; Western films (especially John Wayne), cricket on the TV, Rod Stewart’s music, Adele’s voice and the magic of Christmas. He loved good food, especially spaghetti Bolognese, pie and mash, dry toast and a perfectly made mug of tea with exactly one teaspoon of milk. His humour was dry, his character strong and his favourite sayings: “Everything happens for a reason” and “It’ll all come out in the wash” will continue to echo lovingly through his family.

Most of all, he adored his family. They were his world, his purpose, his pride and his greatest joy. It was an honour to stand with them today as they celebrated a man who gave so much of himself to the people he loved 💙

Today, I had the privilege of leading a celebration of a remarkable 93 year life. A man shaped by hard work, service and simple joys; from his years in the Irish Guards, to driving dray wagons, milk rounds and later working in local factories before giving his time to charity driving.

He was devoted to his growing family, proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and happiest when sharing tomatoes from his garden, watching football, enjoying old war films, reading military books, listening to Johnny Cash or raising a quiet pint with friends.

A life lived plainly, honestly and with humour and one that will be remembered with deep affection.
