Remember to always…..
……. bring the joy of the flowers you grow to the inside of your home as well as to others……
……. I’m sure one not the only flower grower who perhaps forgets one of the reasons we grow is we love flowers so much- so prioritise some for you too, don’t you think?

“They’re going to have to get a shift on” said our local wise farmer as I asked him whether he thought his foxgloves were going be ready in two weeks…..
…….yes, that’s what I’m thinking too, because the seasons, the weather, the lack of rain, just the sheer heat of it, has got them all confused.
So why do I care about foxgloves in two weeks? Why do I care about our flowers at all?
Well, two weeks today we’ll be in the big old city of London at the Chelsea Flower Show, the greatest flower show the world, and I confess I’m nervous.

Our locally grown flowers are growing, some waiting, but some are going over. And that’s the whole point…….
……. the point is seasonality - and with that sustainability. You see I care about the provenance, the fact they haven’t been flown in from anywhere, and that they’re there at all - and we’re not the only ones who care that they are there - the sustaining sustainability of them is what our bees 🐝 adore about them too.
…….. we like to see ourselves as flag bearing for local, for seasonal, for true seasonality. For at the heart of our canalside cutting garden is a care for the environment, even the voles that are digging up my Nigella right now! Beauty and creativity as a act of rebellion - I’ve read that recently - if you said that let me know because I love its sentiment and its quiet but strong - dare I say fierce - determination ### This is the essence of sustainability and our mission with our Moon in Bloom - to inspire everyone to seek out their local growers - I belong to and there are many of us up and down the country now :) Find someone close.

So what flowers have we to take to Chelsea with us?
……. well, ask me in a week’s time, because then I might have a better view on those Foxgloves. But for now, here’s a time when the digitalis were glorious and the weather was less environmentally worrying.
Be safe.

On Beltane, we’re over the moon to let you know we’re exhibiting Chelsea flower show with our floral creation Moon In Bloom .......
Moon In Bloom is a celebration of the rare 2024/2025 lunar standstill, the ancient Celtic festival of Beltane and biodynamic growing, with sustainability at its heart.....
With the theme of “texture”, the design is created with only compostable or reusable materials, exclusively British grown flowers and with both fresh and dried flowers to highlight the sustainability of repurposing everything we can grow. For more information please see our updated website....... and wish us luck with the weather for growing :)

Summer snowdrops now blooming - just the moment for an announcement on positive change .................behind the silent squares, there is anything but silence!!!! Fierceblooms is delighted to announce we’re now part of the North West Flower Growing Collective, a group of independent cut flower businesses working together to bring high quality, seasonal cut flowers to the North West.
....... all of us are committed to environmentally responsible practices and small scale farming. And behind those words is a desire to bring beautiful locally grown flowers that support the land we grow on rather than deplete, to inspire a real change in more conscious floristry, one that doesn’t have a high carbon foot print or lots of chemicals .............. I’ll be honest, as the bees buzz, birds serenade and seedlings shoot, we’re seeking sanity as well as sustainability! So along with growing food and medicinal herbs, and creating wreaths, weddings and farewells, we’re adventuring to support the NW flower grower collective! We see it as real positive change for local flowers in the North West in a world that feels like it could do with some ........ are you with us?

I am pleased to annonce ............. we are now part of the the directory, seeking to change the way we do funeral flowers, importantly with no plastic........ understandably it can be difficult to discuss death - the one outcome we can all be certain of - loss and grief are things that we would perhaps wish to avoid- this wreath is one I created for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II - not the actual one of course but my way of saying goodbye to the only monarch I had known in my lifetime ............ all locally grown flowers were arranged on a natural base - no wires, no plastic and for sure no floral foam - as you know foam is also made from plastic, the microparticles will be present in our precious water long after us ............ of course you can place the date of the funeral by the flowers - seasonal and scented, they are such a comfort as you say your farewell .............. in truth, I don’t tend to post images of funeral flowers, as I feel they are such a private thing, a final conversation between the earth and the loss of one who once shared that space ............... each one of us has the choice - flowers are part of our lives and we can be kind to the earth and have beautiful funeral flowers, perhaps not the conventional ones that we are used to seeing x
