A little bit about us at Balloons by Mealor 🎈

I’ve had lots of new followers recently, so I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly again and told you a little bit about the person behind Balloons by Mealor.

I’m Ali, and I set up Balloons by Mealor in October last year, officially starting to trade in November. What started as a completely new venture has quickly grown into something I’m incredibly proud of, creating bespoke balloon displays and event styling for all kinds of celebrations.

Since starting, I’ve invested in professional training, high-quality balloons and an ever-growing collection of carefully chosen props and backdrops. I’m constantly developing my skills and refining my style because the quality and finish of every setup really matters to me. I want each installation to feel considered, beautifully put together and a little bit special.

It’s certainly been a busy year. Alongside building Balloons by Mealor, I’m currently coming to the end of my Master’s in Finance, with just over five weeks left to go. Not that I’m counting 😂

Balloons by Mealor isn’t my day-to-day job either. I look after the accounts, administration and paperwork for my husband Gareth’s business, GMS, while fitting my balloon work around everything else.

And speaking of Gareth, you’ll often see him helping behind the scenes. He has somehow acquired the unofficial position of Balloons by Mealor’s unpaid employee 🤣 Whether it’s loading everything up, transporting props or helping me get an installation safely to its final destination, he regularly gets roped in. Now that my mother-in-law Jan has retired, she’s also finding herself recruited from time to time.

Gareth and I married in June 2024, and when we manage to escape work, studying and balloons, one of our biggest loves is travelling, particularly around Far East Asia.

Less than a year into Balloons by Mealor, I’m still constantly developing the business and finding new ways to create beautiful, bespoke setups for my customers. I absolutely love seeing an idea go from something in my head to the finished installation ready for somebody’s special occasion.

To everyone who has booked with me, recommended me, shared my work or simply followed along, thank you. Your support has allowed Balloons by Mealor to grow so much in such a short space of time.

A very special setup today for my best friend and her beautiful daughter (and impending granddaughter)💕

Blush pinks, soft nudes, oversized satin bows and lots of lace for the prettiest, girliest baby shower.

A personalised backdrop with organic balloon styling and handmade bows, matching lace Oh Baby hoop, BABY balloon boxes and a personalised welcome sign, all designed to tie together into one complete setup.

I absolutely loved creating this one and how gorgeous does mummy-to-be look standing beside it 🥰

💙 A very special retirement balloon today 💙

This one was extra special to make, as it was for my lovely mother-in-law, Jan, who is working her final NHS shift today before officially retiring at 8.30pm tonight 🥰

I created a personalised bubble in blue and white, filled with mini balloons and finished with medical-themed details including scrubs, a stethoscope, syringe and thermometer, all incorporated into a floral design. We paired it with two helium Happy Retirement balloons to complete the surprise.

Jan thought we were simply popping into work this morning to deliver the cakes she’d been expecting. She had absolutely no idea the balloons, cookies and shortbread were coming too 😂

Of course, I had to get a photograph of her in her uniform, holding her balloon on her very last day in the NHS 🥹💙

Just a few more hours to go, Jan, then retirement officially begins 🥂

What a beautiful way to celebrate a very special 70th birthday! 💕

I had the pleasure of creating this bespoke balloon display for an elegant afternoon tea garden party, featuring soft eucalyptus green, blush pink, ivory and gold, complemented by vintage floral teapots and delicate roses.

The soft matte tones worked perfectly with today’s sunshine, creating a beautifully elegant backdrop for such a special celebration.

Every display I create is individually designed to suit the occasion, and this one has to be one of my favourites. 🌿✨

💛 A very special balloon for a very special cause. 💛

I had the absolute honour of creating this special charity bubble balloon for tomorrow’s Jazzy’s Sunday Funday, raising funds for Jazzys Gestures

This beautiful “Guess My Name” balloon has been created in loving memory of Jasmine, who absolutely adored Jellycats. The bunny Jellycat was chosen especially to reflect something that brought her so much joy, making it a truly meaningful part of tomorrow’s fundraiser.

Some creations mean so much more than balloons, and it was a privilege to be trusted to create something so personal. I hope this balloon helps raise lots of money while celebrating Jasmine’s life and supporting the incredible work that Jazzy’s Gestures does for children and families affected by childhood cancer. 💛🎗️

Unfortunately, I’ll be working tomorrow so I won’t be able to attend in person, but I’ll certainly be thinking of everyone involved and wishing the event every success.

A beautiful setup for the Year 6 Prom at Ysgol Bryn Garth, created in navy blue, white and silver to help celebrate a very special milestone.

This setup included a welcome display, a photo backdrop and matching Class of 2026 balloon columns, creating the perfect space for photos and celebrations as the children marked the end of their primary school journey.

It is always a privilege to be part of occasions like these and help create lasting memories for pupils, families and staff as they prepare for the next exciting chapter ahead.
