What a proper, historic turnout for Murdoch Day 2026! 🥳

The Salt Wind Catering drone team swapped the kitchens for the skies today, trading our aprons for controllers to capture some epic aerial shots and support our incredible local community.

The sheer scale of it from above was completely mind-blowing. We caught the historic streets absolutely packed out, the funfair in full swing, and over 500 people marching for this year’s "Pride in Our Community" theme. And seriously, how stunning did that massive rainbow flag look snaking its way right through the granite rooftops as Redruth Pride went independent for the first time ever?! 🏳️‍🌈✨

What a massive couple of months it’s been! We’ve been absolutely everywhere lately, fueling crews, councils, and celebrations across Cornwall and Devon well ahead of the summer rush. 🗺️🔥

Here is a look at where the kit, the fire, and the food have taken us:

🎬 Deep in the Woods with the Film Unit
The steam is rising and the grills are hot. We've got the coffee brewing and a full hot breakfast ready to go for 7:00 AM sharp, followed by lunch under the gazebo and snacks rolling all afternoon. The crew stays fed, the shoot keeps moving.

🥂 Coastal Wedding Magic
Marquee up, van parked round the back, and the cook station fired up before the very first guest arrives. Rain or shine, we make sure the coastal backdrop matches an incredible feast.

🏛️ Civic Catering
An absolute pleasure setting up a proper hearty buffet packed with mini Cornish pasties, hand-carved ham, fresh sandwiches, three types of pasta salad, fresh salsa, and homemade slaw to keep the team well looked after.

🔥 Big Pan Theatre & Wild Weather
Private Parties: Sizzling giant pans loaded with mushrooms, mangetout, chili, baby corn, and fresh coriander tossed straight off the heat. Proper food theatre.

Plating Against the Cliffs: Serving up fresh, vibrant salads indoors while the wild coastal weather does its thing right against the glass.

Different jobs, same mission. We bring the cook team, the kit, the fire, and the food. You stay exactly where you need to be—on set, at the top table, in the council chamber, or behind your desk.

⚠️ ROAD CLOSED UPDATE: NORTH STREET, REDRUTH ⚠️
We took these photos this evening to give everyone a heads-up on the situation at North Street. 📸↕️

A section of the road is currently giving way, with local speculation that it could be an old shaft. While we wait for official confirmation on what’s underneath, the authorities are taking no chances!

The Details:
Current Status: Police and Highways have been on-site and have now fully cordoned off the area (as you can see in our birds-eye view).

Traffic: The road is restricted. Please find an alternative route to avoid delays.

Safety: Please keep a safe distance from the cordons while the ground is being assessed.

We want all our customers, neighbors, and delivery drivers to stay safe and avoid the chaos! We'll keep you posted if we hear anything more.

Salt Wind Catering. On Set. Across Cornwall. Three Months.

This has been months in the making.

A German film production is returning to Cornwall in April for a three-month shoot. They’ve been filming across the county for the last 30 years, and for a production of this scale, they usually rely on large, corporate catering agencies to handle the logistics.

Not this year.

This time, they looked locally. They spent months planning this with our crew right here in Redruth.

We’ve been working closely with their production team to build menus, map out logistics, and make sure every location is covered—no matter how remote. That’s the bit nobody sees: the weeks of back-and-forth before a single pan gets lit.

It’s a massive privilege to be trusted by a production with such a long history in Cornwall. The county deserves to be on screen, and we’re proud to be the ones keeping the crew fueled from start to wrap.

And the best part? We’ve built our operation so that taking on a major three-month shoot doesn’t mean stepping away from everything else. Whether you need us for a film set, a weekend shoot, or a private event, our kitchens are still firing and our diary remains open.

🖤🤍💛 What a day for Redruth!
The energy at the St Piran’s Day Festival was absolutely electric today. From the sea of Cornish flags to the incredible parades winding through the streets, it was amazing to see our community come together in such high spirits.

We’ve had a fantastic time soaking up the atmosphere and celebrating our Cornish heritage right here in the heart of town. There’s truly nowhere quite like Kernow on a day like this!
