🧡 HOW FAR AHEAD CAN YOU BOOK? 🧡

A little booking update for anyone planning ahead 👇🏼

🏢 CORPORATE & PUBLIC EVENTS
Bookings open 6 months to the date.

🎈 PRIVATE PARTIES
Bookings open 3 months to the date.

So if you're planning a birthday party, christening, wedding or other private celebration, you can get in touch from exactly 3 months before your event date.

For corporate events, festivals, community events, school fairs, markets and other public events, you can enquire from 6 months before your event date.

☀️ A little heads-up though — peak dates can go VERY quickly!

Summer holidays, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and other school/bank holiday periods are always particularly popular, so if your date falls within one of these, I'd recommend getting in touch as soon as your booking window opens.

Alongside Swheater Facepaint & Braids, I also run my beauty salon, Swheater Beauty 💜 so limiting how far ahead I open each diary gives me a little more flexibility while still allowing plenty of time to plan your events.

As always, an enquiry doesn't secure a date — your booking is only confirmed once your booking fee has been received and confirmation has been sent 🧡

🧡 ANNUAL LEAVE REMINDER 🧡

Just a little heads-up that I'll be signing out of all business pages from 7pm on Tuesday 20th October for my annual leave.

🚫 Messages won't be monitored from:
7pm Tuesday 20th October – 9am Monday 2nd November.

I will be completely offline during this time, so any messages or enquiries received will be waiting for me when I log back in on Monday 2nd November, and I'll work through them as soon as I can.

🎃 The only exception is Halloween! I'll be at Go Local Extra Redcar on Saturday 31st October for a pre-booked face painting event. I'll still be on annual leave and won't be monitoring or responding to business messages that day.

If you need to book, change or discuss anything with me before I sign off, please make sure you message me before 7pm on Tuesday 20th October 🧡

After that, I'm officially off-duty! 😂

🎨 PRIVATE VS PUBLIC EVENTS — WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

🎈 PRIVATE EVENTS
Birthdays, christenings, weddings and invite-only celebrations.

You hire us at our hourly rate based on guest numbers — we paint up to 15 faces per hour.

🎪 PUBLIC EVENTS
Fairs, festivals, school/community events, family fun days, company events and anything open to the public.

You hire us at our hourly rate, then you can charge customers for facepainting, glitter tattoos or glitter bar — giving you the opportunity to recoup your cost and even make a profit! 🙌

Private or public, we've got packages for both. ✨

It might only be October, but our Christmas diary has been filling for the past few months — with 5 Christmas events already booked! 🎅✨

🎨 CAN YOU PAINT THIS ONE?

At events, designs are chosen from the board provided — I don't work from inspiration pictures brought along on the day. 📱

Why? My event designs are specifically chosen so I can create them within around 4 minutes, while still producing great face paints and keeping the queue moving. 🎨

Got something specific or more detailed in mind? That's perfect for a one-to-one appointment, where I have more time to work from your inspiration. 🧡

Event = choose from the board.
One-to-one = bring your ideas! ✨

🎨🌧️ WHAT IF IT RAINS AT YOUR OUTDOOR EVENT?

We're in the UK... so even the best-planned outdoor event needs a Plan B! 😂☔

If I'm booked and paid at my hourly rate, a bit of rain doesn't cancel your face painter — I'll still be there from my contracted start time to finish time, whether I paint 1 face or 100.

For private events, suitable shelter is provided by the booker. For public events, shelter arrangements are agreed with the organiser during booking.

🌧️ Rain? We can work under suitable shelter.
💨 Extreme winds or unsafe conditions? That's different — safety always comes first.
🏠 Need to move indoors? That's usually absolutely fine, provided the new location is within 1 mile of the original venue.

And remember... face paint is water activated! 💦 Once you leave my shelter and head back into the rain, unfortunately I can't promise your masterpiece will survive the British weather. 😂

Pay-per-face events work slightly differently — if heavy rain is forecast for an outdoor event, I won't attend and risk standing all day without earning.

The biggest thing I'd recommend to every outdoor event organiser?

Always have a backup plan. ☔

British weather doesn't automatically cancel your face painter... but it definitely likes to keep us on our toes! 😂🎨🧡

🎃👻 HALLOWEEN IS COMING... 👻🎃

In a couple of days we officially enter October, which means spooky season is nearly here! 🕷️🕸️

Halloween Day is FULLY BOOKED — and this year, you'll find me at Go Local Extra Redcar! 🎨🎃

Rafael, the store owner, has hired me from 12pm–4pm to provide FREE face painting for customers bringing their children into the store. 🧡

⏰ Planning to come along?

I am hired to paint strictly from 12pm–4pm. If there's a queue towards the end of my booking, the queue will close early enough for me to finish everyone already waiting by my scheduled finish time.

I'd recommend arriving no later than 3:30pm — and earlier where possible — to avoid missing out.

📅 I'm also taking annual leave from 21st–30th October, so I won't be offering one-to-one Halloween appointments this year.

And if you're already planning further ahead...

🎄 I have multiple Christmas events secured.
🎆 New Year's Eve is FULLY BOOKED.
📅 My diary is open exactly 12 months in advance.

Most event bookings are secured around 3–6 months ahead, so if you've got a Christmas, New Year or 2027 event in the planning stages, don't leave your entertainment until the last minute! 🎨

For now though... bring on spooky season! 👻🎃🧡

😂🎨 THINGS KIDS SAY IN MY CHAIR...

Four minutes in a face painting chair is apparently MORE than enough time to tell me your entire life story! 😂

At Between the Tides we played “guess the face painter's age”...

👧 One child guessed 13. Extra sparkles for you, my darling. ✨😂

👦 Another guessed 92.

And just like that, I was humbled. 😭😂

I've also discovered that apparently I CAN'T have a grown-up son with his own job because children regularly just tell me, “No you don't!” when I mention he's a barber.

Then there's...

💰 “Are you dead rich?!” after finding out how much professional face painting equipment costs.

🎨 “You're doing it WRONG!” while I'm halfway through layering a design... followed by “OH! I like it!” when the mirror finally comes out.

🙈 “My mam tried to drown me!”
Cue horrified Mam: “I WAS WASHING HER HAIR!”

🐒 I've been told I'm a monkey and I stink. That one had me checking my armpits for the rest of the day. 😂

💍 And I've even had a child attempt to set me up with his dad because apparently I could marry him and become his new mam.

Dad and I did not know where to look. 😂😂

Honestly, you can SEE the moment a parent realises their child is about to tell the face painter something they absolutely did not need to know. 😭

Parents — please don't be embarrassed. There's never any judgement from me. I've got children too... I know how wildly different a child's version of events can sound! 😂🧡

And amongst all the chaos, I also get...

🥹 “You're the best face painter in the world.”
🥹 “I love you.”
🥹 “We're best friends now.”

Those ones can stay. 🧡

Never change, kids. You make my job absolutely hilarious. 😂🎨
