Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Sabrina Song has built a reputation for crafting deeply personal indie-pop songs that balance vulnerability with sharp storytelling. Her latest EP, 'Big Trick', explores the uncertainty of young adulthood, the weight of expectations, and the challenge of finding peace when life doesn't unfold as planned.

Fresh off the release of the project, Sabrina spoke with us about the inspiration behind 'Big Trick', the experiences that shaped its themes, her songwriting process, the importance of live performance, and what she hopes listeners will take away from the record.

LIVE REVIEW โ€ข Sarah Kinsley, 28/05/2026
Much has changed since her first-ever show in London four years ago. For the last show on her 'Fleeting' tour, Sarah dances onto the stage to open her set at Camden's KOKO, immediately commanding the room with a presence that feels both theatrical and intimate. KOKOโ€™s dazzling disco balls scatter reflections across a sold-out room

LIVE REVIEW โ€ข Mitski, 21/05/2026
There is a particular craft in Mitski's ability to spotlight humanness: So clearly, yet so simply. Mutual understanding becomes the atmosphere of the room rather than merely a feeling. She is not performing at her audience so much as she is performing with them, conducting their emotions with a graceful, unhurried presence. It's like watching her lead a waltz with her 5000 audience members. The set itself reinforces this: A living room dressed in warm light, grounded by rugs, projections of water imagery and vintage black-and-white film flickering behind her. It feels as though you've been invited into her home for movie night, followed by the most heartfelt conversation over candlelight.

I am so incredibly delighted to be bringing these two phenomenal ladies, Tara Lily and Shalini Rani, to our collaborative show with as part of their week.

Tara Lily: Immersed in the vibrant sounds of her multicultural surroundings, she absorbed everything from jazz and electronica to alternative R&B and classical Indian soundscapes. This rich tapestry of influences, paired with her deep musical insight, vulnerability, and strength, forms the foundation of a sound that is entirely her own.

Shalini Rani: A self-taught musician, Rani has shaped her own distinct sound, brought to life with her six-piece jazz band. She is also an avid advocate for vulnerability, authenticity, and greater representation for women and British South Asian voices in the music industry.

Tickets are now on sale! See SCโ€™s website for more details and to explore the full programme: https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/events/south-asian-sounds/

On 24th April, Korean-American artist Margaret Sohn (Miss Grit) released their second album 'Under My Umbrella', documenting an ongoing journey of introspection. The artist talks to Asian Tones about feeling isolated with their half Asian identity, to embracing independence and breaking that mould a result of their self discovery after performing solo across the country.

Miss Gritt is fearless experimentalist known for sculptural textures that blur analogue and digital, guitar and synth. Their acclaimed 2023 debut 'Follow the Cyborg' imagined a futuristic, non-human search for liberation beyond gender and genre binaries. On its follow-up, however, Sohn powers down the android and turns inward. 'Under My Umbrella' reveals the Korean-American artistโ€™s internal world, tracing anxiety, heartbreak, and self-reckoning from the past two years.
