How about a micro wedding?

It is a growing trend – and why not when COVID restrictions mean limited options anyway?

Boris and Carrie Johnson managed to keep their micro wedding a secret before celebrating with just thirty guests as per current rules. If you have dreamed of your big day being, well BIG, then you may not have even considered the micro option. While fewer guest might seem to limit or even delay your wedding plans, thinking small might actually be the perfect choice for your wedding

So many couples have already delayed their weddings, more than once in some cases. Booking your special day still carries risk of further delays and postponements even now. You would much rather be Mr and Mrs. and get on with the rest of your life, and the good news is that you can. Celebrate your wedding now with your nearest and dearest – the ones allowed to travel at least – and plan a larger celebration at a later date including all those who could not attend this summer for whatever reason.

We cant dismiss the fact that many of us have suffered financially during the pandemic and a micro wedding would be the answer as it can save you money. A smaller scale wedding with fewer guests means all the style with less expense on your part. Looking at it from a different perspective, maybe you can book that special but ‘way too expensive for a full guest list’ venue after all. That way you don’t have to compromise on style or quality.

You really can have what you want! Rather than fulfilling the expectations of others, especially if they are contributing to the finances, you can craft your wedding day to include only what and who you really want to be a part of your day. While you are thinking that through why not dispense with some of the expected traditions that don’t fit with your vision and values, and even add a few new traditions of your own. I can suggest some if you are stuck for ideas.

It’s no secret that big weddings can be very stressful and exhausting. On the other hand you can choose to have a relaxed and enjoyable experience, a warm atmosphere and more time with your guests. When restrictions are lifted you can always celebrate with a wider group of friends and family and even re-state your vows for those who feel that they missed out.

Whatever you want for your special day, I can help you create your perfect wedding ceremony, and perhaps a larger celebration when restrictions allow. Mr and Mrs Johnson have already sent their ‘Save the Date’ notes for next summer. I do wonder if they still have their fingers crossed though.

Celebrating you first Valentine’s day under lockdown?
We are still in lockdown so the challenge of making Valentine’s day special is even bigger this year. Fear not – here are a few ideas to inspire you to create a special day whether you can be together or not, including some things you can do as I call it ‘together-apart’. Luckily this year Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday which means we have the whole day to dedicate to our loved one if we want to, no pressure there then!
Have a stay at home date. Do all the things you would do if you were going out on a date and wanted to feel good. Spend Enjoy a soak in a bath with some luxurious bath oil, style your hair, add some make up, jewellery, spritz some perfume or aftershave and a nice outfit and you are ready for your date – at home or on-line.

If you are single this is also a great way to have a great night in online with your friends, snacks, drinks, cocktails if you wish, before you hit the kitchen disco and burn off some energy and muss up that lovely hair! It doesn’t have to be romantic, its fun that we need.

Plan a whole day doing things together that you both enjoy. Whether that is going for a walk, cooking together, playing scrabble or lighting a fire and watch an old movie curled up on the sofa together, or watch the same movie if you are apart and talk about it afterwards.

Feeling creative? A home-made Valentine’s card is more valued because of the effort you put into doing it. List the all the ways your loved one make you smile and makes your heart beat a little bit faster. Just taking the time to focus on why you love being together, or together apart, will warm both your hearts.

Talk a walk together-apart. Whether you can meet up and do this in a socially distant way or you are too far away to do this, you can time your walk, pop in your earbuds and talk as you walk. Talk about the places that are special to you both, individually and together, places you have been and places you plan to go to once circumstances allow.

If you don’t fancy going out for a walk – well it can be a bit nippy in February – take a walk down memory lane. Reminiscing on how your relationship has developed can be fun and it is often well documented so find those photos on your phone that will bring a smile to both of your faces.

A few ideas to make Valentines Day a special one. Together or apart, partnered or single, there will be someone in your life that you can show a bit of love to. Go on, it will make you feel good too.
