I’ve been stuck indoors a bit lately, actually getting a bit of time to read a book.
So, I thought I’d share one of my favourite books with you today… Memoirs of a Geisha.
I’ve always had a bit of a fascination with Japan, and I think this book is probably part of the reason why. I love the whole world it takes you into — the beautiful kimonos, traditions and, most of all, the art of being a geisha. It’s not just about the appearance; it’s the dedication to dance, music, conversation and all those beautiful traditional Japanese arts. 🎎
And actually, my love of Japan goes way back to when I was little. I was lucky enough to have a Japanese godfather and godmother who lived in Japan, and every year they’d send me these amazing boxes of Japanese goodies. Honestly, I used to get so excited opening them!

I think that’s probably where my love of Japanese blossom comes from too. 🌸 I just adore it — so delicate, pretty and a little bit magical. Ikebana floral design amazes me with the skill of placement of each flower. 🌿 Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging.
As a florist, I love how it invites us to slow down, celebrate each stem, and create beauty through simplicity, balance and movement.
And of course, being a florist, it’s no surprise that blossom has become one of my favourite things to work with, spring time when the tress are abundant .
It’s amazing how little pieces of our childhood and the things we love can find their way into what we do years later. 🤍
