Community isn’t a spectator sport so here’s
a little reminder that community is a two-way street.
For years I’ve championed artists, DJs, promoters and venues, shared their events, shouted about their successes and encouraged people through their doors.
Not because I expected anything in return, but because I genuinely believe that a thriving music scene depends on people showing up for each other.
But support shouldn’t consistently flow in one direction.
We’re all fighting for visibility, audiences, bookings and opportunities. A share costs nothing, a recommendation can mean everything, and celebrating someone else’s success doesn’t diminish your own.
So I’m being a little more intentional about where I put my energy.
I’ll always champion my community. I’m just no longer going to do all the championing. Over n Out.
