Hello all

It’s been a long time. Sorry for delay.
The last couple of years have sure been tough all round.

I just wanted to update you that we have ceased operation as Softplayessex Kids Cafe.

The building has now been changed to operate Kidz Proof … a dedicated SEN nursery which will be a real asset to the community, which I am sure you will agree. We just await ofsted and to recruit our team.

There may be a party option once the nursery opens, also some pre planned community events … we are not entirely sure at this stage, but watch this space…. Please pop over and like the nursery page.

I want to thank you all for your custom over the years, we have some fond memories.

For those that don’t know - I am a joint founder/ volunteer of KidEco at Lakeside which offers a great value play area… perhaps somewhere nice to hang out!

On another note a great community tea room, but over in Romford Eastbrookend Country Park Tea Room … do pop over and say Hi to Emma.

Just a little update from us to explain the reason for the pause in opening…

For those of you who know we operate the not for profit The Baby Bank HQ - We have been using the Purfleet site as our sorting hub for Thurrock families in poverty.

We have been flooded with donations from our wonderful community and supported well over 250 families in the last three months with clothing, school uniform and essentials.

We are thrilled to tell you, although we are not reopening Purfleet just yet, we have a little soft play just down the road with our 6 weeks initiative with Lakeside Shopping Centre.

We are absolutely delighted to announce our brand new eco initiative with our partner The Kids Bank to raise funds to relieve childhood poverty and
protect our planet with reuse of textiles.

On Monday we open our Brand new Lakeside store “KidEco”.

The team at The Kids Bank HQ & Baby Bank have been working tirelessly to get everything together for our opening on Monday.
So please drop in…. Your under 5’s can stay and play for £2.50 an hour or £2 for 30 minutes in our soft play area. (Must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times). You can bring your lunch with you or grab a coffee from the centre in a take away cup! Perfect sit down buggy decamp shopping destination!

All families are welcome, from our friends who have hit a bad time and are referred from our referral partners to receive free clothing/toys and to those who simply wish to shop eco and grab a bargain from our BNWT + preloved clothing and toy boutique.

You can also browse our rails of economically priced New and pre-loved baby clothing and accessories in our Eco boutique. All monies raised from the soft play and the boutique will fund our Baby and Kids Bank operation.

We are based at 7 Lakeside shopping Centre, West Thurrock way, Grays RM20 2ZF (we are located on the ground floor next to HSBC)

Opening hours:
Monday - Saturday 10am-4pm
Sunday 11am-5pm
6 week pop up initiative

We are also accepting donations at Lakeside, so if you are thinking of having a clear out this weekend we will accept any donations from Monday onwards of good quality new/used clothing and toys.

Sorry for delay. We have had lots of messages regarding open. We plan to open in September once all of our area has been assessed as safe to open.

We have been overwhelmed with the messages asking if we are reopening.

We are not rushing to open! We are not taking party bookings at present.

🌼 Time Capsule 🌼
This time will be written about in history books.
Now is the perfect time to bury a time capsule.
Get the whole family involved. Write diary entries, add newspaper clippings, photos, toys, anything to describe your coronavirus experiences.

Place in a non perishable box and open again in years to come.

Just be careful because people are going crazy from being in lock down 🤯 Actually I've just been talking about this with the microwave and toaster while drinking tea ☕ and all of us agreed that things are getting bad 😥 I didn't mention anything to the washing machine as she puts a different spin on everything 🤷🏻‍♀️ and certainly not to the fridge as he is acting cold and distant. In the end the iron calmed me down as she said everything will be fine no situation is too pressing 👌
