✨ Horrockses on Stilts at The Harris ✨

Last night, we had the privilege of joining the team at The Harris for a special preview event celebrating their upcoming Horrockses Fashion exhibition.

Over the past few months, we have been training participants in the art of stilt walking using StiltsPro, while our in-house team has been busy designing and sewing these magnificent 100% cotton dresses.

Inspired by the vibrant prints and iconic silhouettes of the early 1950s, each dress celebrates Horrockses Fashions; Preston’s iconic fashion label that became internationally renowned.

Seeing our performers bring these creations to life inside The Harris was an incredibly proud and special moment for everyone involved. ❤️

Next stop: Encounter Festival on Saturday 19 September!

🎀 PAID HAIR STYLISTS NEEDED – PRESTON 🎀
1950s / Vintage Performer Hair

📍 Preston, Lancashire
📅 17th & 19th September 2026

We're looking for experienced hair stylists, session stylists or vintage hair artists to join us for a large-scale heritage performance project taking place as part of events in Preston this September.

The performers will be wearing beautiful 1950s-inspired dresses, and we're looking for hair styling to complete the look.

✨ THURSDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER
⏰ Approx. 4:00pm–6:00pm
👩 5 female performers
🎀 1950s-inspired styling

✨ SATURDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER
⏰ Approx. 10:00am–3:00pm
👩 Up to 20 female performers
🎀 1950s / vintage-inspired styling

For the 19th, we are looking for TWO stylists so the performers can be split between you.

We're not expecting 20 completely bespoke bridal hairstyles! The aim is to create a selection of attractive, repeatable 1950s-inspired performance looks using curls, rolls, pinning, up-dos and accessories where appropriate.

Ideally you'll be comfortable working efficiently with different hair lengths and types and supplying your own professional styling kit/products.

📸 The project includes professional/public event photography and is a great opportunity for anyone interested in vintage, editorial, theatre, performance or creative hair styling.

You can apply for one date or both dates.

💷 Paid by bank transfer upon completion.

📣 Dressmaking Workshop at Moss Mill this Saturday, 12 September.

👗 To celebrate The Harris' upcoming Horrockses Fashions exhibition, Encounter Festival's Procession is going to be led by a Horrockses-inspired commission created by prolific Preston artist, Josh Holden of Wolf Entertainments & Events.

🧵 This is an opportunity to be part of this project - in Preston's oldest surviving Horrocks Mill! Join us for a drop-in day of dressmaking, upcycling and creating. Bring your piece to work or collaborate with us on a Horrockses-inspired creation.

📌 Space is limited so it is first come, first served and you may have to wait to start your work if the space is too busy.
