We have received some bad news this week that we would like to share with you all:

Unfortunately, the Environment Agency have chosen to withdraw the last phase of the planned flood defences along the River Darwen which were proposed in 2019 to help protect our business and other people in Higher Walton from the risk of flooding.

Over the years, and without flood insurance due to the excessive cost, our business has flooded numerous times and we were hoping the flood defences would protect us for the future. We know we might not be able to continue with our market garden should another flood occur, which would be a great sadness after over 90 years of service.

Please share in the hope that there could be a way to save our business and Higher Walton from future flooding.

Everything is looking great in our greenhouses and are all ready to go! Remember to water them daily and feed them once or twice a week with tomato feed to keep them in their best condition. Don't forget that we are only open in the morning until 12noon on Bank Holiday Monday and will reopen as normal on Tuesday. See you soon. 🪴

All our plants, baskets and tubs are looking great after all of this sunshine! Please note, we will only be open half day on Monday from 9.30am to 12noon for the bank holiday and will be back to normal hours from Tuesday. 🪴

We would like to remind customers at this time of year that there is still a chance of frost up until the end of May. Please be mindful that all our plants need protection from frost if you decide to plant them before this time.

Happy Easter everyone! Due to the bank holiday weekend, our hours will be slightly different, so please check before you come and see us. We will be open in the morning on Good Friday and Easter Monday and will close for the afternoons on those days. We will be open for our usual hours on Saturday and Sunday and will be back to our normal hours on Tuesday. Have a wonderful Easter! 🐰🐥💐
