We had a blast arranging a whisky trip to Glasgow for our friends at the North Wales Whisky Group. We started off gently on Friday evening with a visit to the SMWS followed by a slightly more hectic visit to the Pot Still. Saturday was a tour of Deanston, and a stunning Warehouse 4 tasting, where we were privileged to sample 3 new casks to the warehouse with Brian, who was also tasting them for the first time - a 14 yo finished for 7 years in a port pipe, a 17 yo finished 2 years in a Canasta butt and the star of the show for us, a 27 yo finished 5 years in a Sauternes cask! Before getting the bus back, we couldn't resist a quick stop in the Curly Coo. On Sunday morning we enjoyed an excellent tour of Clydeside with Cara, and then it was onto the Artisan in Wishaw for Sunday's highlight - a fabulous tasting with Derek along with his famous Octomore burger! Unfortunately we only managed to sample around a dozen of his 3,000+ open bottles! This morning we'd organised a private visit to The Glasgow Distillery. What can I say apart from thanks so much to Libby, Shug and Seb for such a memorable experience, from filling a cask, to coopering, to warehouse tasting! All in all I think we can confidently say that a very enjoyable time was had by all π₯
