“Why are flowers so expensive?”

The answer isn’t actually about flowers being expensive…it’s about everything that goes into getting them here.

Every week I unpack buckets like these, filled with flowers that have been grown, nurtured and carefully handled long before they arrive at my door.

What I see isn’t just flowers. I see growers, seasons, weather, logistics, and an incredible amount of work behind every stem and that’s not including the work of a florist after the delivery….

And honestly, I never get tired of it.

There’s something quite special about opening a fresh delivery and seeing what the week has in store

When you buy flowers you’re not just buying stems….your bringing a little bit of natures seasonality into your home.

A little update from Wild Ivy Florist 🌿

While you may have noticed some changes recently, I wanted to let you know that Wild Ivy Florist is very much still here and open for business 💐

As a local florist serving Poynton and the surrounding areas, I’ll be working a little differently moving forward, focusing on pre-ordered bouquets and arrangements by appointment. This allows me to source fresh seasonal flowers for each order while reducing waste.

I’ll also be concentrating on the parts of the business I love most…workshops, intimate weddings, bloom subscriptions, baby showers and the occasional pop-up flowers at the gate.

Do keep an eye on my page too, as I’ll occasionally have flower jars and bouquets available when flowers are in stock.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support my small business. Your orders, recommendations, and kind words mean the world, and I’m excited for this next chapter of Wild Ivy Florist.

It’s been beautiful and warm lately, so here’s a little reminder on how to help your blooms stay fresh for longer 🌸

✨ Keep them out of direct sunlight
✨ Change the water every 1 - 2 days
✨ Trim stems before placing in fresh water

As well as been busy with flowers I’ve also been busy planting in the garden when I can 🪴

My little helpers 🐾🐾 are always close by and intrigued by the watering can especially….🌿

I’m a day late as it was World Bee Day yesterday so I’ve popped a video of the bees 🐝 (scroll through to the end) busy at work buzzing around the blue blossom 🌼

As you may know Bees are essential because they pollinate plants, helping flowers, fruits, and crops grow and supporting life on Earth 🌍 🐝

Save the bees and grow some friendly plants for them in your garden! 🪴

Looking forward to showing you what I’m growing in the garden 🪴 but for now there is nothing to see….yet!

I’m a little behind sharing this one as wedding season has been so busy, but this lovely day definitely deserved a place on my page ✨💐

A couple of weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of creating the wedding flowers for Sarah & Andy 🤍🥂🌿

They were married at St George’s Church here in Poynton, and as it was my very first wedding there it felt extra special….especially being so close to home for me too.

Sarah wanted a natural “just picked” meadow-style feel, full of softness and movement, which is one of my favourite styles to create. I used beautiful seasonal ranunculus, scented garden roses, delicate freesias, eucalyptus, pretty feverfew daisies and lots more gorgeous blooms to bring everything together.

At Wild Ivy I only take on a small number of intimate weddings each year, which means I can really focus on all the little details and create something truly personal for each couple.

A huge congratulations to Sarah & Andy and thank you so much for asking me to be part of such a special day ✨🍾🎉
