Happy World Environment Day 🌍

Floristry as an industry is moving towards more sustainable practices and it’s becoming an important part of how the industry grows. Today is a good moment to highlight some of the changes shaping the industry.

More florists are reducing single‑use materials, choosing seasonal flowers where possible, supporting responsible growers and using mechanics that can be reused (just like the ones in this photography). These steps help to protect the environment and improve the quality and longevity of designs.

At Cavendish Florals, this means avoiding floral foam where possible, reducing waste and designing with materials that can be used again.

I’ve been experimenting with foam‑free chicken wire mechanics in the studio. These arrangements use a reusable wire base that supports each stem and keeps everything foam‑free and sustainable. It lets the flowers sit in a more natural way and makes the design easy to adjust or refresh.

Chelsea in Bloom 2026 💐

The streets of Chelsea are decorated with incredible floral displays created by local shops, hotels and restaurants. This years theme ‘Out of This World’ saw the streets of Chelsea transformed to a different planet 🪐
