This is why we recommend box bridal
PLEASE CHOOSE CAREFULLY // “I had my dress cleaned by another cleaner…….” Opening line of three very sad emails we received this last week have led us to publish this post and all were situations that could potentially have been avoided. The saddest one was the one that advised that when the bride collected her dress all the glitter was gone and the pearls ruined. Glitter is honestly the greatest challenge of this season, but an experienced cleaner will know how to deal with this and still achieve a good clean result.
We really cannot stress enough how important it is for every bride or anyone planning the cleaning of a wedding dress to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, proceed with caution. Whether this dress cost £100 or £100,000 the emotional value is totally irreplaceable. Dont take any chances. Explore all the options available (and there are lots of them) and try, if you possibly can, to avoid being price driven in making your decision. Ask yourself the following questions before you make the final decision and if any of the answers are NO, keep looking for the right choice of cleaner. Generally the requirement for a wedding dress clean is a single use service and it is so important that you choose a cleaner who is experienced in this very high risk field of work.....and not everyone is. Most of your answers should be based on communcation you have shared and a relationship you have already started to build, or through recommendation and reading social media and Google reviews.
1: DO I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT I CAN TRUST THIS CLEANER WITH MY WEDDING DRESS- I believe they have the knowledge and the expertise.
2: DO I FEEL ASSURED THAT THIS CLEANER WILL DO THE BEST THEY CAN TO ACHIEVE THE BEST POSSIBLE CLEAN RESULTS? This may mean multiple cleans.
3: HAS THIS CLEANER EXPLAINED THEIR PROCESS AND METHODS TO ME AND MANAGED MY EXPECTATIONS OF THE RESULTS THAT CAN BE ACHIEVED? Which may be dependent on the fabrics and embellishments of the dress, or the staining from the wedding day.
3: DOES THIS CLEANER HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH MY PARTICULAR TYPE OF WEDDING DRESS STYLE, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION? Especially if your dress is very delicate fabrics, or perhaps very heavily beaded or maybe where a care label says DO NOT CLEAN or SPOT CLEAN ONLY,or perhaps even recommends a cleaning service which may not be easily accessible.
4: DOES THIS CLEANER ACTUALLY DO THE CLEANING THEMSELVES? This is really important - are they cleaning on site, or are they using a recognised wedding dress cleaning service. ASK THEM.
5: ARE YOU TAKING YOUR WEDDING DRESS BACK TO WHERE YOU PURCHASED HER FROM AS THEY OFFER A CLEANING SERVICE? If you are, then feel confident to ask them about their service provider.
6: IF I DELIVER MY DRESS TO THIS CLEANER, CAN I SEE THE RESULTS BEFORE I PAY AND TAKE MY DRESS AWAY? It is essential that you can see the condition of your dress before you take her away as in many cases, this is your acceptance of the results.
7: CAN I JUST PUT MY WEDDING DRESS INTO MY OWN WASHING MACHINE OR EVEN THE BATH......this is potentially a YES answer, except with a huge HUGE, BUT...Ideally a cleaner who has more than one cleaning option is the perfect choice.
8: DO THEY HAVE A WEBSITE WHICH ANSWERS MOST OF MY QUESTIONS? Without a doubt, an experience, competent cleaner will have this.
9: HAVE YOU READ THE REVIEWS FOR THE CLEANER YOU ARE CONSIDERING? This is undoubtedly one of the most re-assuring ways to confirm you are making the right choice.
We could go on and on with the questions but we hope that this will help you to make the right decision about who you choose to clean your wedding dress and this may be for before or after your wedding day.
