This week it's the turn of the Merlin Rocket class to hold their National Championships at WPNSA, as they celebrate their 80th Anniversary of this fabulous boat design.

Racing started on Sunday with the competition enjoying the varied conditions both inside Portland Harbour, and out in Weymouth Bay. With 42 entries from all over the UK, the fleet are enjoying a full social programme ashore as well, with the champions being crowned after the racing finishes on Friday.

With the best view of the harbour up on our balcony, our Twenty12 Cafe is the best place to see whats going on, with coffee, cakes, lunches, ice creams all on offer. Come and visit us, upstairs at the National Sailing Academy, Portland - everyone welcome, and dog-friendly too!😎🐾❀️

The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is a not-for-profit organisation, that's fully self-funding (no grants or lottery money etc..), so every penny made goes back into supporting jobs on Portland, maintaining this World-Class competition venue, and enabling the many groups and charities that use our facilities.❀️

Although there's not a competition going on at the Academy this week *takes a deep breath*, we're still as busy as could be, with over 130 sailors taking part in the annual ILCA Skills Week, a superb week-long training camp for sailors of all ages and standards.😎
In addition to this, you may have seen more and more international teams coming to train here on their lightning-fast iQFOiL windsurfers, in advance of the World Champs coming up in September.😎😲

We would like to say Thank you to John of Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy who has very kindly supplied our Weymouth Bike & Car Night marshalls with Hi-viz wristbands. Now when it's very hot they can wear short sleeve tabards and still give clear directions. Thank you very much John for your kind donation!
