UPDATE: CANCELLATION OF LYTCHETT RELAYS 2022

An email have been sent to all registered Teams and Runners...

The Lytchett Relays Team are sorry to inform all teams that the decision has been made to cancel this event.

After we sadly lost the use of Holton Lee Estate, we have been searching tirelessly for the past few months to source another suitable location. Like many race companies, we found our biggest challenge during our search came down to the increase in event costs. The recurring themes in all our conversations are that the old finance model doesn’t exist any more and all venues / landowners are wanting much higher fees than in the past. On top of that the hire fees for event infrastructure has also, increased to prices beyond our event budget.

We have always considered the Lytchett Relays at Holton Lee to be different from other races and are local enough to attract lots of teams from local clubs. We are not a professional race company and don’t wish to create an event that maybe be similar to other providers - we just don’t have the budget or resources available to do so.

The Holton Lee Estate may come back online sometime in future, but for now there is no guarantees.

ACTION REQUIRED

Please can the your team captain contact David Rustell directly with your details - so that I can process a full team refund, rather than having to process these individually.

2022 Relays Update:

It’s been a while since our last communication - apologies for that, but we have been busy working with our venue providers at Holton Lee Estate over these past few weeks to try and work out an alternative approach to running our event alongside the new enforced covid restrictions onsite.

The Estate are still not taking any public or event bookings and after recent conversations this will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future.

After, many amazing events at Holton Lee we are sad to have to move on and would like to thank Steve and his team for all of their support over the years.

We are currently exploring alternative locations and have already begun speaking to local landowners to find a new venue - when confirmed we will share further details early in the New Year!

All Team entries are still valid and will automatically role over to the date in 2022.

Remember- Captains can change team members right up until the day.

The Lytchett Relays provides a festival type experience which brings local communities of runners together - something which we hope we can do once again when we get through these crazy times.

We appreciate your support, patience and will keep you updated

Dear Relay Runners,

After a year of uncertainty and the cancellation of the 2020 event, we are sorry to announce that this years Lytchett Relays which was due to take place of the 4th July 2021,will also be cancelled.

After a recent conversation with Holton Lee Estate. They have had to restructure their operational model in how they use their buildings and wider estate to ensure that their residents are kept safe and protected from COVID-19. These changes have impacted their events calendar and sadly, had to make the difficult decision to cancel all scheduled events, included the Relay for 2021.

Given the current situation and uncertainly around when events might be able to take place once again, we are not looking at other venues or scheduling for later on in the year.

We are waiting on confirmation on a new date for 2022 with Holton Lee.

All Team entries will automatically role over to the date in 2022.

Remember- Captains can change team members right up until the day.

UPDATE: CANCELLATION OF LYTCHETT RELAYS 2020

As you have probably been anticipating, The Lytchett Relays Team are sorry to inform all teams that the decision has reluctantly been made to cancel the 2020 Lytchett Relays.

This decision has not been taken lightly. The communication from UKA on 6thMay 2020 hastened what was probably inevitable.

We have automatically transferred all team entries to next year which is now scheduled for Saturday 3rd July 2021 and plan to have the same arrangements for the 2021 Lytchett Relays as this year.

We will also, be emailing everyone in the next few days with details of the cancellations and refunds, if you require them.

We are currently considering the possibility of running a “Virtual Lytchett Relay” over a weekend in the summer for all current teams that have already pre-paid entry for this year – Please let me know your thoughts and if this would be of interest to you?

Thank-you for your support, keep safe and we look forward to welcoming you back next year!

We have had some great feedback on last week's event and also some good ideas on what we could do differently to improve it (e.g. different coloured batons for mens, ladies, mixed teams). We appreciate any feedback and ideas from participants, spectators and marshals. Please comment below if you have any ideas for making the event better. Next year's date will be announced soon.
