In our last post we weren’t shy in sharing that not all brides are 100% happy following their hair and makeup preview/trial appointment. But that’s 🆗

Sometimes things just don’t quite feel like you…

❌Maybe you’ve tried on your dress and had a change of heart that the formal up do that you pined over on Pinterest doesn’t suit your boho wedding theme after all.

❌ The foundation or concealer chosen by the makeup artist didn’t sit right or perhaps looked too heavy or was slightly the wrong shade in a different light.

❌ The hair didn’t hold a curl and dropped out quickly..

Or maybe all of the above! 👆

What Now….?!

✅ Firstly rewind to the night before and make a note of what hair and skin prep you did.

We send out guidelines 1 week before your appointment but even with the best will in the world - life gets busy and sometimes these guidelines get overlooked (or only read on the day of appointment) 🙈

✅ Communictae your feedback to us the following day so that we can think about how to help address any concerns.

✅ We always listen to your feedback and make notes on your Client Record which we always refer back to on your wedding day.

✅ We might go out a buy a new product or two - just to suit you.

✅ We might also have a confidential discussion within our close network of hair and makeup artists to brainstorm solutions - a problem shared is a problem halved. 😊

✅ We know that one size doesn’t fit all (and we’re not talking about the setting spray, however, that is blimmin’ brilliant stuff if you ask us!)

✅ We’re always open to your feedback. Forget read it and weep - it’s read it and tweak!

If you’ve had a preview appointment with us or even another Hair and Makeup Artist which you’re not 💯 per cent happy with - please don’t jump the gun and think that you have to cancel your booking.

We’d much rather hear 👂 your feedback and work on improving our skills. 💪

What if you don’t 100% love the look we’ve created at your Preview Appointment..? 🤔

Don’t panic, — that’s exactly what hair and makeup preview appointments are for. ✨

We’re not here to box you into one look.

We listen, tweak, adapt and you may even decide to change it up and go for a completely different look until it feels 100% you.

Jo took our lump of ice (advice) (we have plenty of that to share) and booked her preview appointment 📅 to coincide with her dress fitting later that day. ⏰

When trying on her wedding dress she didn’t feel quite right 😐with the style she’d originally envisaged (a curled ponytail - just so ya know) and decided she’d like to try her hair down on her wedding day instead.

If you don’t think you’re as brave as Jo 😬to put your trust in us and go for an alternative look on your big day, you can always book in for a second preview just like many of our brides do.

OR if you’re running short of bangers + mash (💰) we can always chat through your ideas via email 📧 or on the dog and bone (📞) or even hop on a video call if that suits you best. 🧑‍💻

Because when it’s right, you’ll feel it. And if it’s not? We’re not done yet. 👰

Paying for your prom, special occasion or wedding hair and makeup just got a whole lot easier!

Now accepting Apple Pay.

1. Simply open your invoice direct from your Client Portal or an email from us.

2. Click on the purple “View Invoice” button on the top right hand corner (next to where it says “Print”)

3. Voila! Fast and easy payment available with an immediate receipt.

You can even store your card details for next time.

3. No need to log on to your banking app and faff about anymore!

4. Credit cards 💳 accepted too!

Wanna know what was a first for hair stylist Emily this month….

She made one of Alison’s maids (and Alison!) cry! 🙈😅

*What happened?!*
Emily and I Olga kicked started May by getting Alison (and 3 of her bridesmaids) hair and makeup ready so that she felt confident to become ‘Mrs Sansom’ that afternoon at the historical Edmondsham House in Wimborne.

Wedding mornings can have mixed emotions and sometimes spark a few tears! 😅

*But were they tears of joy?*
Without a mirror to work in front of (apart from a quick check for height and parting before work commenced) when Emily did the grand reveal of the hair for 1 of the bridesmaids ~ she was so happy that she couldn’t help but shed a tear!

The back story:

1. She was conscious about her hair being on the thin side so rocking a bridesmaid bun wouldn’t suit her 👱‍♀️
2. She’d had an allergic reaction to bleach at the hairdressers earlier that week so scalp and hair was on the sensitive side! 😳

The result:
Emily used some padding, some texturising products as well as her expertise to create a bun worth smiling about! 😃

Sometimes we have to whip out the old crystal ball 🔮 to suss out what’s coming next!

Last week we talked about how wedding mornings can be a right bubble bath (laugh) 🤩, however sometimes the room is more anxiety filled than party vibes ~ and that’s sound too!

Good job 👍🏻 when you book two of our top notch team (that’s Head Stylist + Lead Makeup Artist) as we have years of practice in knowing how to read a room! 😉

Tandee clocked a little nod from Olga ~ no words needed, and we switched up the plan quicker than a whistle and flute (suit) at an early morning Next sale, all to help our lovely bride Hannah relax and enjoy her morning. ☺️

We carried out a joint hair and makeup sesh and chatted about anything non wedding related and generally distracted Hannah for an hour!

Guess what? It worked a treat!

Hannah was as cool as a cucumber 🥒 after her Barnet and Boatrace were completed in one go ~ and she was free to meet and greet her photographer and chill 😎 whilst other wedding suppliers, family and friends slowly arrived too.

What happens if you live abroad and your destination wedding is in the UK? 🇬🇧

As we March into Spring we’re seeing a wave of weddings 💒 where overseas 🌊 clients are choosing to have their first (or second) ceremony here in Dorset! ☀️

As Saturdays client only touched down 2 days before her wedding, we organised a hair and makeup video consultation 👩🏻‍💻 instead of carrying out an in person preview.

During the call 📞 we discussed Anna’s Pinterest pics as well as her go to makeup products and usual routine to help take away some of the stress on Anna’s big day! 😊

Did you hear about the wedding where the makeup artist lost her voice?! 😶

Yep, that’s exactly what happened at Jemma’s hair and makeup preview in January!

When an artist picks up their brushes 🧑‍🎨communication plays a key 🔑 part in ensuring that we are chatting openly and creating a look that our brides and clients are 💯% happy with.

In this circumstance we only felt it fair to offer Jemma a couple of options:

a) Reschedule 📆
b) Go ahead with some whispering, interpreting and some sign language thrown in 🤟

Guess which option she chose? B!

Luckily we had a joint hair + makeup preview booked with a pre-completed booking form so the majority of info and ideas had been gathered in advance.

With Tandee taking the lead with the talking too, this resulted in us nailing the brides look, not only at her preview but on her wedding day too! 😊 👰🏻

Premier bridal solutions for your hair and face!

Founded by Olga (wedding makeup artist) with colleague Tandee (wedding hair stylist) we have been working together on a freelance basis for over 14 years coiffing hair and beautifying faces most Saturdays at weddings taking place in Dorset and Hampshire.

In 2018 we added a small number of carefully selected, reliable makeup artists and stylists to the team so 2019 looks to be a record year!

We will consider all bookings no matter how large or small so please feel free to contact us for a bespoke quote.
