Little throw back to this very autumnal feeling giant vase birthday arrangement I created last year. Sadly the dahlias are really struggling this year. I think it might be time to lift them, divide them and give the soil a revamp for next year.

It’s always a privilege to be trusted to create flowers for someone’s farewell. This was a lovely fully comparable funeral wreath I created for extended family to match a spray in the same colours. You can have a look though our funeral flower options and see previous work at Www.bluehillflora.com

A classic blue and white palette for a vow renewal that went out last week.
I love blue and white though blue is always a tricky colour to grow. I never seem to manage to grow enough so I dry a lot of blue eryngium and statice just in case. So these were a mix of dried blue flowers and fresh white flowers. I love blending fresh a dried together as you can then take the dried flowers out to keep long past your special day.

I love making buttonholes. Each one unique and special. A perfect little bouquet of colour and texture. They do t just have to go on a suit jacket either. They can brighten up a bag or even a hat to.

All the moody autumnal feeling colours for this bouquet. We have even had a couple of chilly mornings this last week that needed a jumper! I have to say I am very much looking forward to autumn this year and getting to feel all cosy in front of the log burner with a hot chocolate again. Are you looking forward to autumn? Or am I wishing the summer away 🫣

A little bit about my last wedding at one of my favourite venues barnatbrynich
This was a challenging one for me with the drought really taking its toll on the field. I just didn’t have the quantity of flowers I needed in the field so it was time to reach out to my amazing floral community. So many of the other growers in Wales are in the same boat so I looked to British wholesalers (snapdragons) and (Alstromeria).
I also ended up ordering in a few things from Holland as a last resort. It’s not something I like to do but I will never let my brides down.
I’ve got copious notes and plans in place to help try to make sure this doesn’t happen again next year but who knows what will happen. All we can do is our best!

Ive finally managed to grow a decent zinnia! Not sure if it’s the hot weather or Ive finally got my timing right. But it means I’m giving them another go next season. I’ve got a new seed sowing plan coming together so hopefully I’ll be able to grow more in the future as I do really love them as a focal at this time of year alongside the dahlias.
Do you love a zinnia?

First harvest of the honesty seedheads is in and so the tedious job of peeling them begins 🙈 I don’t grow a lot of them for the seedheads as they are such a pain to process and store so they don’t get crushed. I’m very grateful that is another job mum helps out with a lot!
Did you know we have to peel the seed pods by hand to get to those beautiful shiny disks underneath?

Getting to see our flowers through the eyes of a professional photographer never gets old. I'm totally in love with how tiasandryphotography has captured our blooms. It reminds me of why I do this job, getting to look back to when the flower field was groaning with gorgeous blooms. If you are busy planning your wedding and like what you see then you can always have a nose at our website www.bluehillflora.com to see other examples of our work. Or you can drop me a email at [email protected] to find out if I might be available for your wedding day. 💐
