The ceremony is never only about the words being said.

It’s the atmosphere in the room. The feeling underneath it all. The moment everyone softens into it and realises this is not going to feel stiff or performative or distant.

That feeling stays with people long after the day itself.

What it feels like to hear your ceremony for the first time. ✨

“It’s so lovely…
it made me want to reach over to Annabelle.”

That’s always the thing I’m thinking about.
Not only how the ceremony sounds, but how it feels to sit inside it.

To hear your story reflected back at you.
To suddenly see each other again, in the middle of all the noise and planning and logistics.

Because the best ceremonies don’t feel like a performance.
They feel like recognition. 🤍

It’s one of my favourite parts of a ceremony.
That almost invisible exhale.
The moment everyone realises this isn’t going to be stiff or performative or something to “get through”.
It’s simply two people, being seen properly, by the people who matter to them most.
You can actually feel the room soften.
Shoulders drop. Faces change. People settle into it.
And from that point on, everything feels more real. ✨

There’s a lot of invisible pressure around wedding ceremonies.

Pressure to say the right things. To react the “right” way. To create a moment that somehow feels meaningful for everyone watching.

And somewhere in all of that, couples can accidentally stop experiencing the ceremony… and start trying to perform it.

But the ceremonies people connect with most are rarely the perfectly polished ones.

They’re usually the ones where people relax into the moment a little. Where emotions wobble. Where laughter appears unexpectedly. Where things feel human.

You do not have to perform your relationship perfectly for your ceremony to be meaningful.

You only have to be inside it while it’s happening.

I’ve written more about this on the blog for anyone currently carrying that quiet pressure around their ceremony: https://mellythecelebrant.com/you-dont-have-to-perform-your-ceremony/

There’s a bit more to what I do than standing at the front and reading words 🤍
This work has always been about people, stories, and creating space for moments that really matter — whether that’s a wedding, a farewell, or something in between.
I wrote a blog sharing a little more about the “why” behind it all…
If you’re curious, you can read it here: https://mellythecelebrant.com/more-about-melly/
Or just stay here for a moment — that works too.

...and we have re-launch, not so much a re-brand but a refinement. A clearer expression of who I serve best - no pressure to perform, just be yourselves!
