Changes to how a death is registered are coming Soon

Electronic Register for Births and Deaths (ERBD)
Effective from 9 November 2026

A significant legislative change will come into effect from 9 November 2026, with the introduction of the Electronic Register for Births and Deaths (ERBD).
This national change will transform how death registrations are completed across England and Wales and will provide greater flexibility for bereaved families.
What Will Change?
From 9 November 2026:
• Register Offices will be required to offer both face-to-face and telephone death registrations.
• Next of kin will no longer be required to attend a Register Office in person to register a death.
• Deaths will be able to be registered by telephone where this is the family's preferred option.
• The requirement for signatures in paper registers will be removed.
• Death declarations will no longer be required.
• Registration records will be created and maintained electronically.
• Families will have greater choice in how they access registration services.

Today we said goodbye to a kind, wonderful man who had been a devoted supporter of Plymouth Argyle for an incredible 66 years.

It was a privilege to be asked to lead his funeral service.

This is the moment just before C&L’s ceremony. The room is ready, the chairs are waiting, and after 21 years of knowing and loving each other, the moment they had been waiting for was finally here.

It was such a privilege to be there to help them celebrate becoming Mr&Mrs FINALLY!

I don’t often share reviews about individual ceremonies, because I believe that weddings are deeply personal and, for me, that privacy matters. ❤️

But every now and then, I receive words that are simply too lovely not to share.

This particular ceremony was a little different — two couples, one ceremony, and the challenge of making sure both couples felt equally seen, celebrated and at the heart of their own story.

To receive these wonderful words from someone who was there as a guest means so much to me. It’s a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do — creating ceremonies that feel personal, genuine, full of laughter, emotion and, most importantly, them.
