☀️ In the build up to the event there is due to be a solar eclipse, peaking at 7.15pm.

If you choose to view it, please do so safely and never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection.

🕶️ Use certified eclipse glasses that meet the international safety standard (ISO 12312-2:2015(E)) or an appropriate indirect viewing method instead. Further information can be found using the link in the comments.

Day one of the British Firework Championships, in partnership with Associated British Ports and ZeroUSV, is here!🎆

Get ready for a night of amazing firework displays on Plymouth Hoe, there will be three sets of fireworks tonight and three tomorrow. 🎇

In the build-up to the big event don’t forget to watch the live music on the main stage, plus the street performers and fairground on the Hoe Promenade. 🎶

Don't forget a few hours before the event there will be the solar eclipse. Visitors are reminded to follow UKHSA guidance for how to view the eclipse safely. The maximum eclipse coverage is expected to be at 7.15pm.

The West End Carnival Trail begins this Friday 15 August!

In the build-up to this year's Carnival on 29 August, pick up a trail map from any of the listed locations (or find the digital version via the link using the link in the comments) find all 10 carnival themed characters by following the map.

Write down the 10 characters you find next to the numbers and enter correctly online to be in with a chance of winning either a £50 Waterstones Gift Card, a £50 Love Plymouth Gift Card or £50 Smyths Toys Gift Card.

The unmissable event is back this Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August on Plymouth Hoe with three firework performances happening per night to enjoy!

Yard Sessions is back for the penultimate time this summer next Friday 14 August at the RWY Royal William Yard's Secret Garden 🎶 🎶

Brother and sister duo Becca Langsford and Thomas Ford will be performing from 5.30pm - 8pm on the night.

Taking inspiration from the White Stripes to Bukka White, their energetic live shows are driven by slide guitar, harmonica and washboard, for fans of blues shouters, jump jive and fingerpicked guitar.

Thomas has performed from Bodmin to Berlin and sold records from the Eastern Block to the East Indies. Becca has toured Europe and the US extensively with legendary guitarist Martin Barre of Jethro Tull.

In June 2024 they released their first EP as a duo, named ‘Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya’ which features 4 original songs, recorded live at Middle Farm Studios.

Performing at Old Town Street from 11am-1pm on Saturday 15 August, Ocean City Sound are an acapella vocal group who are much-loved throughout the city and are celebrating their 10th year as a group in 2026.

The British Firework Championships, in partnership with Association British Ports and ZeroUSV, are back next week in Plymouth on 12-13 August 🎆

Find everything you need to know before next week’s event, including safety advice, FAQs, plus travel and accessibility information for the British Firework Championships, which welcomes around 100,000 visitors to the city over two nights.

⚠️ Visitors are advised that:
- No sparklers/personal fireworks are to be brought to the event
- It's going to be warm, so bring your own water bottle and use the water point to keep hydrated.
- Wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
- BBQs are not permitted on Plymouth Hoe or Mount Batten during the event. Visitors are advised to use the on-site food and drink vendors for refreshments.
- If you see/hear something suspicious - report to a member of the on-site security team.
