Head Chef and Sous Chef
St Michael's Food Ltd
We are looking for a dedicated head chef to be running a large canteen serving up to 300 people for breakfast and lunch.
Your head chef's duties include leading the kitchen operations, menu planning and financial oversight. Key responsibilities are creating menus and dishes, supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations. You will be responsible for overall quality control, budget management, and training junior staff to maintain a smooth-running, profitable kitchen.
Menu and food
Menu creation: Design and develop new menus, including creating new dishes and recipes.
Quality control: Ensure all ingredients are fresh and that food quality and consistency meet standards.
Food preparation: Oversee the food preparation, cooking, and plating processes.
Staff and operations
Supervise kitchen staff, delegating tasks and resolving issues as they arise.
Leadership: Lead the kitchen team and ensure all staff follow proper hygiene and safety protocols.
Financial and administrative
Budget management: Control costs, manage food budgets, and work to maintain or increase profit margins.
Purchasing: Order supplies and liaise with suppliers.
Compliance: Ensure the kitchen complies with all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 6am to 3pm with Immediate start.
Being DBS checked is a preference but in any case having a clean criminal record is fundamental as you will have to undergo a screening process in order to start the job.
