Warning: Potty mouth language in this video 🙃

I hope you lot rate the hustle here man🤣 Both me and Michael hated these little tramps floating around the shed today, there was dozens of them!!! Anyone know what family of spider they are? Also, there was literally hundreds of mosquitos trying to eat our faces!!

In other news, we had a bit of an organise of the outside area and think we have a plan of action for roofing that area!

Our new home ❤

After keeping everyone in the dark a bit, we can now show you our new home! It's amongst an already existing groups of communities with already lots happening!

It's smaller, and needs a couple new outbuildings to get it ready to use but we actually have more use able space than we did in the old building! This place is more organic in its feel and far more sustainable for us both in terms of space but financially! That outside area that has the sheds is going to be made into an extension of the current building, where we have a much bigger dirty workshop than we had before!

We have the grassed area under the trees and that whole area from the blue door to the taxi, which currently...is looking like a fancy summer house style kind of building with the taxi becoming a breakout space! All ideas and suggestions welcome (I like the idea of a Christmas Market style design?)

As you can see, there is a lot of work to be done, but it will get done but just to set expectations, the next couple of months will be slow and we hope to reopen in some capacity around late January/February!

Thanks for bearing with, everyone! Massive thanks to Dave & Kez and especially Abbi from for making this happen, her vision for the community she wants to grow is akin to ours and we are very happy to be joining you ❤

Some pretty banging news 😁 Thanks everyone for your patience, things have been quote on socials but lots has been happening. It may take a little while to get the new space ready to use but it's coming 😊😊

"My name is Bart and I’m a great fan of Peterborough Hackspace! I’m a beekeeper who like to make my own equipment. For months, I was hacking and sawing wood in my garden, disturbing the peace and quiet of my family and our neighbours. As you can imagine, having to take in and out all the equipment, watching the weather and tidying up saw dust from the garden was really annoying. It affected what I was able to build and how quickly it got built.

Then I discovered The HackSpace and instantly became a member! Got inductions for band saw, table saw and laser cutter. All the needed tools were finally at hand.

The space attracted a bunch of friendly people who were willing to help, no matter if it was suggestions, idea or simply helping hand when I needed it most. The around the clock availability of the space meant I was able to better manage my free time, having a hobby and not having to sacrifice time with my family. I’ve managed to build a few items for my apiary, incl: hive floors, brood boxes and nuc hives, but there are plenty of things I still need to make. I took part in the Macramé Workshop organized within the space. This was an eye-opener as to how important it is to calm down and relax." - Bart

"The Hackspace, for the last six months, has been my safe space. The world seems a pretty messed up place at the moment and having somewhere to be able to focus on nothing but just creating something, in a positive environment surrounded by like minded people has been invaluable to my mental health.

I went in with a woodworking project, and left with a thousand new interests, projects and ideas, I was inspired to try things I’d never dreamt of having the ability to do. I learnt so many things from so many people who were so keen to help me.

I found somewhere where I genuinely felt safe, happy, and able to pursue my ambitions. It’s easy to underestimate the value that a space like this has for so many people - for the artists who need a large area to work, for computer programmers who need advice and experience of others’, for the woodworkers like myself who don’t have the money or the space to own the great array of tools offered, or those who need a quiet place to work during the day, to the people who want to learn new skills, and meet new people, I have never seen a better and more close-knit community for all of these things. For me the Hackspace has certainly kept me going through some hard times, and for the Peterborough and wider community, the space is invaluable, has brought so many people and passions together, and cannot afford to be lost." - Sam

Hiiii. Ok so two facts:

1. We can't stay in our current building.
2. We're moving and need money.

Hopefully the video explains it properly but we have set up a gofundme and would truly, truly appreciate any help ❤

We really hope you see the value in what we all do here and see that The HackSpace is and can be an amazing place for Peterborough. A big thank you to all the members and a huge thank yo to the steering committee who have been amazing through all of this!

We may have a potential solution, and amidst all the utter crap of this situation, there has been slithers of excitement about moving forward! Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to do a little video explaining our position and what happens now.

This reel has no order to it, the audio hasn't exported out of instagram, it's hashed together and couldn't possibly explain what we are missing about the space. But none the less, here's just 0.1% of the journey and the amazing people who have played a massive role in making the space into what it was.

We are exploring ways of getting the space back open so please, please keep an eye on here over the next week ❤

Hello everyone ❤

Honestly, your support and messages have been an absolute blessing, its been bloody emotional...not just because of the bad bits, but because it's been the most humbling, amazing thing to see people rally behind this community of people and to see what the space represents to the people who need it and use it ❤❤❤

I'm sorry for not replying to anyone, it's all been a little crazy, phone has been going mental and dealing with the process and next steps as well as making sure I still water and feed my child lol. Just know that things are going on to ensure The HackSpace remains! We may need a new home, we may get back in...I just don't know yet, but I do know the building, although a huge loss is just a building: the people who have shown me what a community really is are what makes the space, the vibe, the friendship and the madness of projects we see. We are all making sure we crack on and get sorted as soon as possible ❤❤❤
