IxCacao
In the old Maya nights
when the stars still spoke
IxCacao rose from the fertile dark
with seeds in her palms
and said
Every being has the right to become
She fed cacao to the first people
warming their blood
loosening the knots of fear
reminding them that identity
is a living thing
malleable as earth
fluid as river
ancient as the sky itself
And the Maya knew
some souls walk between worlds
Some hold two fires
Some carry moon and sun in the same chest
Some are born in one form
but destined for another
This was never strange
This was sacred
This was medicine
The Hero Twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque
shifted shape across realms
dancers of identity
boundary crossers
tricksters of form
They walked into the underworld in one face
and returned wearing another
teaching that transformation
is not deception
but destiny
Their mother’s womb
was a temple of rebellion
their resurrection a blueprint
for every human
who must re shape themselves
to survive.
In the Popol Vuh
gender is not a line
but a spiral
Bodies are not prisons
but portals
To change shape is to echo the gods
who changed shape first
And IxCacao sweet molten grandmother
of heart and hearth
holds the gender diverse
the trans, the q***r, the in between,
like sacred cacao pods
waiting to crack open
into their truest taste
She whispers to them
You are not wrong
You are becoming
From the underworld
cacao trees rise
From misunderstanding
truth rises
From old names and old shells
new beings rise
bolder, truer
carrying the Hero Twins’ courage
in their bones
Today, this poem is a blessing
for every human
who dares to walk their own emergence
for every human soul seeking alignment
every q***r heart seeking home
every non binary spirit stretching like dawn
beyond the limits of language
A blessing carried on cacao steam
on ancient stories
on the unbroken lineage
of those who chose wholeness
despite everything
