A new era for a long standing, highly recommended funeral business
Congratulations on your retirement Neil
Wishing the new team, Mathew, Gareth and Rob prosperity for the future

NEW ERA FOR JOHN ROBERTS & SON FUNERAL DIRECTORS

After many decades of devoted service, Neil Roberts decided to hang up his tailcoat and retire from the business first established by his father, John, in 1965. The ownership of John Roberts & Son was transferred to Matthew L Jones on 1st February 2026.

This marks the beginning of a new era with a commitment to maintaining the firm’s long-standing values of dignity, professionalism and compassionate support. The seamless transition means that John Roberts & Son continues to provide trusted funeral services to the families and communities of Pembroke Dock and surrounding areas.

Matthew looks forward to building on the firm’s strong reputation alongside Gareth Rees and Rob Hague, a 30-year veteran at JRS. We will strive to honour Neil’s legacy and that of his late father, John.

Neil would like to thank the local community for their support over the years and wishes the business success under its new leadership. We wish Neil a much-deserved long, happy and healthy retirement.

Should you have any queries or if we can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Many Celebrants conduct non religious ceremonies and I am aware that if faith or a religious ceremony is required then most people usually choose a vicar or priest or cleric and a church or mosque or temple.
However I was recently asked to provide a ceremony within a religious funeral.
The deceased requested a Catholic funeral and the widow wanted a personal eulogy.
I was able to meet with the priest and agree to share the service.
The priest explained to the congregation that not only was it my parish church but I knew the gentleman and so he felt it fitting that we both shared the ceremony.
I am often required to include a pray, psalm or hymn when conducting funerals in a chapel of rest or in a crematorium.
As a practicing Catholic and follower of Buddhist meditations I believe I can offer a spiritual ceremony with faith and meaning wherever the family choose to hold the funeral.
Incidentally my second business owning a Craft Centre also played a part in the ceremony- I made the purple funeral Lecturn and tabernacle covers! 😉

Anybody who has ever lost a pet knows how heartbreaking it can be. If people say “it’s just a pet”, they really don’t understand.

Our pets are more than animals, they are members of our family 🐾🐾❤️
Did you know that many Celebrants can prepare and conduct a meaningful celebration of life for your beloved pet. 🦮🐕🐕‍🦺🐈‍⬛🐈🐴🐰🐹
I can write a eulogy or gather poems to conduct a pet funeral in your home or garden.
We can lay your pet to rest with a beautiful service.
Alternatively I can conduct a funeral service during a private cremation at a pet crematorium.

🐶 Happy National Dog Day

Dogs bring us so much comfort, especially during life’s most difficult moments. Their quiet companionship, loyalty, and love are often exactly what we need as we navigate grief and remembrance.

At Pembrokeshire Natural Burial Meadow, we understand the special role dogs play in our lives. That’s why well-behaved dogs on leads are always welcome to walk beside you.

Whether you're visiting a loved one, walking in quiet reflection, or simply enjoying nature, we hope this peaceful space brings comfort to both you and your four-legged companions. 🐕
