are still going strong in this mild autumn weather. Just a few of my favourites flowering at the moment. 1. Black Jack 2. Aurwens Violet 3. American Dawn, I’m not sure this is true to type as it seems a lot darker than what I was expecting 4. Negroni Sunset 5. Crazy for Don and 6. Unknown as the Jackdaws keep pulling up the labels.

Happy Friday 🍁🍂
It certainly feels like autumn is well and truly upon us, falling leaves, the gorgeous rich reds and golds in the hedgerows, berries everywhere a sign of a harsh winter I’m told. Had a fabulous play with flowers yesterday before everything finally slips into dormancy. Absolutely loving the bright red hips and ‘allouise salmon’ and chrysanthemum ‘Mary stoker’ so delicate but a great vase life. I will continue to supply .4_mersea while the cutting patch permits. Lots already going on for next year in the greenhouse so if you would like subscription flowers for the 2026 season or your a florist looking for something different to elevate your designs please get in touch. If you haven’t already booked on to a wreath workshop we have a few spaces left on Saturday 6th December at 2pm. Please message me for details.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of presenting the prizes to this years exhibitors at the Mersea Island Horticultural Society’s summer show. Considering the season has been so dry and growing conditions this year very challenging the entries were of very high quality. I am in awe of their knowledge and dedication in our ever changing weather patterns.
If you would like to join the group they meet from January to April and October through to December with annual membership at only £6 for the year.
It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking to expand your growing knowledge.
Talks for the remainder of this year include:-

October 14th is their charity based meeting with a talk on medical detection dogs.
November 11th - Wild Essex in Winter with Liz Huxley a wildlife photographer and guided walks expert. Check out lizhuxley.co.uk for a list of events and some incredible photography.
December 9th - AGM and Christmas Party.
Next years schedule is still to be confirmed.
You don’t need to be a member to attend a meeting.
