Available all year, Neidpath Castle provides an idyllic setting for your special day. The Laigh Hall with vaulted ceiling is perfect for your religious or civil wedding ceremony. Receptions and glorious wedding breakfasts are held in the Great Hall, with the log fire roaring. Celebrate in a picturesque setting of tapestries and panelled walls surrounded by the stunning Hannasch Batiks depicting th

e life of Mary Queen of Scots. The scope for creating your very own decorative dreams is endless with the rugged stone walls of the castle there to enhance all styles from classic, to low key or even gothic. Accommodation in Queen Mary's Chamber, and in the adjacent Barmkin is perfect for the couple and close family, and our other luxury properties, Barns Tower, Barns Library and Barns Bothy are just 5 minutes drive along the River Tweed. Plenty of car parking is available. Seating for up to 90 within the castle and for larger wedding parties a site can be provided for a marquee.

Happy 483rd Birthday to Mary Queen of Scots!

These are a few of the many beautiful batiks at Neidpath that tell her story. The artist, Monica Hannasch was inspired by Mary's friendship with the owner of her day, William Hay, 5th Lord Yester, a staunch Catholic supporter who spent 1558 in France to celebrate Mary's marriage to the Dauphin, Francois II.
When Mary, unexpectedly returned to Scotland soon after, due to the death of her husband, William Hay was one of the few Catholic friends that she knew well and her visits to Neidpath, were probably a chance to enjoy herself, knowing she was amongst friends.

Our Christmas Fair returns for 2025. Join us on Saturday 6th December from 10am to 4pm. Meet Mrs Clause, explore the Castle, Craft stalls, Neidpath Guards Bar will be open and fun for all the family.

Our Story

Neidpath Castle is a 14th century medieval castle, available all year for weddings, exclusive events, filming and private tours.

Weddings

Available all year, Neidpath Castle provides an idyllic setting for your special day. The Laigh Hall with vaulted ceiling seats up to 80 wedding guests for your religious or civil wedding ceremony. After-ceremony receptions can be held within the grounds of the Castle, or drinks and light refreshments can be served* in the Great Hall, a picturesque setting with panelled walls and stunning batiks depicting the life of Mary Queen of Scots. You are able to decorate the castle with as many flowers as you like. And access will be permitted for you to make your own arrangements. We can also provide you with helpful photographer and catering contacts. Plenty of car parking is available. For larger wedding parties a site can be provided for a marquee. (Marquee is not included.)
