Saying goodbye to someone you love is one of the hardest things we ever have to face. At such a difficult time, finding the right words can feel almost impossible.

As a funeral celebrant, my role is to listen.

I take time with families, hearing the stories and memories that made their loved one who they were — the big moments, the little things, the laughter, the achievements, the quirks and the precious memories that will never be forgotten.

From those conversations, I create a ceremony that is personal, heartfelt and unique to the person whose life we are remembering.

There can be tears, but there can also be smiles and laughter. A funeral doesn’t only have to speak about how someone died — it should tell the story of how they lived and how deeply they were loved.

I bring compassion, warmth, dignity and professionalism, and I will be there to guide and support you every step of the way.

Being trusted with someone’s final story is something I never take for granted. It is an honour and a privilege.

Today I had the privilege of leading the funeral service for Jimmy Barnes.

Every life has a story, and today we gathered to honour Jimmy’s with love, respect, and gratitude. It was a service filled with treasured memories, heartfelt reflection, and a celebration of a life that touched so many.

Thank you to Jimmy’s family for trusting me to guide you through such an important farewell. It is always an honour to stand alongside families during life’s most difficult moments and help create a service that truly reflects the person they love.

Rest peacefully, Jimmy. You will be remembered with love.

Today I had the privilege of leading the celebration of the life of Robert “Bobe” Copland.
Bobe’s love of music touched so many lives, and today’s service was a fitting tribute to a talented musician, a devoted husband, dad, family man and friend. The stories, the memories, the laughter and the music all reflected a life that was truly well lived.
My heartfelt thanks to his loving wife, Clair, and his sons, Jamie and Robert, for allowing me the honour of telling Bobe’s story.
May you find comfort in the memories you shared, and may the music he loved continue to play in your hearts forever.

Father’s Day can be a day of celebration, but for many, it is also a day of remembrance.

Today, I hold space for those whose dads are no longer here to share a laugh, a hug, a phone call, or a special moment. Grief has no timetable, and days like Father’s Day can bring a mixture of love, gratitude, and sadness.

To those missing their father, grandfather, stepdad, father figure, or someone who filled that special role in their life, know that you are not alone. The love they gave, the lessons they taught, and the memories you shared remain part of who you are.

As a funeral celebrant, I have the privilege of hearing so many beautiful stories of fathers who were deeply loved and are dearly missed. Today, we remember them, honour them, and carry them with us in our hearts.

Thinking of all those who find Father’s Day difficult. May you find comfort in your memories and strength in the love that never truly leaves us.
