But there’s something I really want every couple to think about before making their final wedding budget decisions.
Cost isn’t everything. And sometimes, the cheapest option can end up costing you the most.
💍 Think About Where Your Wedding Budget Goes
Let’s look at some of the things couples spend their money on.
You might spend £1,500–£2,500 on your wedding dress and accessories. You’ll look absolutely incredible, and you deserve to feel that way.
You might spend £5,000–£10,000 or more on your venue, making sure you have the perfect setting to celebrate with your family and friends.
Perhaps you spend £800–£1,500 on flowers, creating beautiful arrangements that transform your ceremony and reception.
You could spend £500–£1,000 on a wedding cake that looks spectacular and tastes amazing.
Then there’s the entertainment, suits, hair and makeup, decorations, transport, favours, stationery and all those little extras that seem to appear along the way.
Every single one of these things plays a part in creating your perfect day. And I’m not suggesting for one moment that they aren’t important.
But here’s the thing.
The cake gets eaten. The flowers eventually fade. The decorations are packed away. The dress is carefully stored, and the venue becomes someone else’s wedding venue the following weekend.
The money you spend on those things helps create your wedding day. But once that day has passed, how will you relive it?
📸 Your Photographs Are More Than Just Pictures
Your wedding photographs aren’t simply a collection of images to share on Facebook or put into an album.
They’re your memories, preserved forever.
They’re the look on your partner’s face when they first see you walking down the aisle.
They’re your mum wiping away a tear, your dad holding back his emotions, your grandparents smiling proudly, and your friends laughing together.
They’re the moments you didn’t even realise were happening because you were too busy enjoying your day.

Let me make something clear: I don’t believe you need to spend a fortune on wedding photography to get beautiful images.
A higher price doesn’t automatically mean a better photographer, just as a lower price doesn’t automatically mean a poor one.
There are talented photographers at different price points, and every couple has a budget that needs to be respected.
But please, when comparing photographers, don’t make your decision based on price alone.
Look at their full wedding galleries, not just a handful of their best images on social media.
Ask yourself whether you love their style. Can you imagine your own wedding looking like the weddings they photograph?
Read reviews from real couples. Find out what’s included, how your photographs will be delivered and what happens if something unexpected goes wrong.
Most importantly, make sure you trust the person you’re inviting to capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments.
Because unlike a centrepiece or a wedding favour, you can’t simply buy another set of photographs if the moments weren’t captured properly the first time.
Your wedding day happens once. The photographs are what allow you to revisit it again and again.
❤️ Spend Wisely, Not Just Cheaply
I know every couple has to make compromises somewhere. Perhaps you choose a less expensive cake, reduce the number of flowers or find a beautiful venue that costs a little less.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
In fact, being sensible with your wedding budget is a good thing.
But I would encourage you to think carefully about which parts of your wedding will still matter to you in 10, 20 or even 50 years.
Will you remember the exact price of your table decorations?
Will you remember how much you paid for the favours your guests took home?
Or will you treasure the photograph of your grandparents dancing together, the tears during your vows, the embrace with your dad, and that first kiss as a married couple?
Your priorities are personal, and there is no single right way to plan a wedding.
But your memories deserve a place near the top of that list.
