Its now official, Shoot Out Club has become Serous About Events and we are serious about skittles. We have been organising skittles events since 1994 and are experts in everything to do with skittles. From hosting fantastic skittles weekends every year for nearly 25 years where thousands of people come together for a seriously fabulous time, dancing, entertainment, socialising and skittles, all under the one roof in suburb destinations in the South West. Serious About Events are proud to host the annual British Skittles Championships where skittles teams from all over the UK compete to be crowned British Champions. Since 2004, thousands of skittlers have taken part in this annual event and for them it is now quite seriously the skittling mecca. Dont miss out, get your event booked now!

It’s that time of year again… skittles leagues are getting back underway, the darker nights are creeping in and teams are starting to think about their next weekend away!
Our 2027 Skittles & Darts Team Tours are already booking up, so if your team fancies a weekend of competition, plenty of laughs, live entertainment and a good night on the dancefloor, now is a great time to get something in the diary.

Today we say our final farewell to Val Godfrey (Pengelly), aged 84.

An amazing mum to organisers Rachel & Sarah, a cherished Nanna and Great Nanna, beloved wife of Alan, and someone who was loved by so many.

Skittles was a big part of Mum’s life. She was the original founder of the Crusaders Skittle Team, who played in the Torquay Skittles League for many, many years and we couldn’t resist sharing this brilliant old photo of her skittling in her early 20s.

In the early Shoot Out years, Mum would come along and help Rachel, and later became chief babysitter so that Rachel & Sarah could host many years of skittles weekends. She also marshalled at the Blackthorn British Championships in Torquay every year and absolutely loved being involved, always ready for a chat and a good laugh with the teams.

Always glamorous, almost always late ,that’s definitely where we get it from and always chatting… so anyone who has ever sat through one of my long welcome speeches now knows exactly who to blame!

Mum’s goodbyes were legendary. She would start saying goodbye and somehow still be there chatting 30 minutes later so much so that we always called it “Val’s Welsh goodbye.”

Today we say our final Welsh goodbye to Mum and, in true Val style, we can pretty much guarantee it won’t be a short one either.

And so, for now, one final Welsh goodbye ❤️ Love you xx
