A very sad weekend for the world of photography as we say goodbye to the legend that is Martin Parr. Such an incredible vision and career in photography and an inspiration to so many photographers around the world.
Martin was a visiting lecturer at FCA when I was on the HND in 1996 and I can remember him saying it's a tough career and only a small percentage of you will make it. That comment never left my head and made me even more determined to be a photographer. I've had 25 good years of photography and still keep my eye in.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Martin again at the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year awards at the Mall Galleries in London a few years back, a moment that will be forever in my heart.
Thank you Martin, your images will be even more precious now. I often wonder if the people in your images realised what an amazing photographer you are. You made the ordinary extraordinary.
My thoughts are with Martin's wife and family.
