The 12 days of Christmas may be a well known song but we are loving the diversity of our events world work over the past 12 days and hence came up with the following (don't ask why)….

On the 12 days of Eventmas our true work sent to me:

12 hours (and the rest) Replying to emails
11 hours Planning staffing for 2026 events
10 hours Festive season networking meetings
9 hours Working on new training delivery content
8 hours Planning new tabletop exercises
7 hours Multi-agency exercise led by the Metropolitan Police
6 hours Event control for the Milton Keynes Winter Half for Big Cow Events
5 hours Preparing articles and work for the The United Kingdom Crowd Management Association
4 hours Mentoring someone who wants to set up their own business
3 hours online Meetings with new clients talking new events for 2026
2 days of Refresher training
1 day as Deputy Safety Officer at London Stadium

Was just out of the 12 days to also include the catch up with Caroline Clift who is preparing an article on Event Controls for the next issue of StandOut Magazine.

Clearly we have too much free time on our hands right now and for anyone that knows, this would not be happening in the summer months!

Thanks to everyone that helps make our work so enjoyable and rewarding, whether you are one of the awesome MinTcommand team, a client, co-supplier, stakeholder or anyone else that we have the pleasure of working with or meeting.

Ultimately all of us are working to deliver safe and secure events so people can have fun times. As great as it is to be busy, we are looking forward to some days off and enjoying the festive season.

As we are halfway through November (already?!), with 2026 approaching fast, it is definitely time for a well overdue post!

2025 has been our best year yet, helping clients of old and new both across the UK and further afield! They say variety is the spice of life and we have certainly been living that in our control rooms with teams deployed to mass participation sports, stadium sports events, remembrance parades, ceremonial events, festivals, corporate events, carnivals, and much much more! Whether deployed internationally or closer to home, our teams work hard to deliver high class event control management and support services.

Away from the control room, we have facilitated more table top exercises and assisted with training to develop our clients' teams than ever before. We are excited to expand this even more in 2026! Our team has also attended conferences and expos and undertaken CPD to ensure we are always at the top of our game.

We'll aim to show more of our work before the end of the year, but in the mean time a huge thank you to all of the Mint Command Team and our clients for the continued support and trust they put in us. Also a shout out to the many other suppliers and stakeholders that we have the pleasure to work with.

As we are well into May, it's time for a brief pause to reflect on what has been achieved so far this year and look forwards to what will be a very busy few months.

March always sees us support a number of Half Marathons up and down the country, kicking off our Mass Participation event season.

April saw us supporting as usual on the ABP Southampton Marathon and Brighton Marathon Weekend with our regular team members back into the different event control rooms to deliver our standard annual assistance to these great events.

The TCS London Marathon at the end of April has to be a highlight. Over 60 people made up the main London Marathon Event Control Room (the largest ever!) and teams assisting at localised ‘Bronze’ Control Rooms at the Start and Finish show the great value that London Marathon Events give to their C3 structures. As always working with some of the best in the industry to deliver a multiple world record-breaking event.

As well as the operational support on the event days, we have been busy delivering training to help teams understand the importance of event control rooms. In the past 6 weeks alone we have facilitated 7 Tabletop Exercises in amongst our event control room delivery, helping to ensure different clients are as prepared as they can be for potential scenarios and incidents that may come up during their events.

What’s to come? A lot more 'Tabletop Exercises' and Training, as well as supporting Hiking Events, Half Marathons, 10K runs, Cycling Events, Triathlons, Concerts, Corporate Events and providing our usual support to London Stadium with West Ham United FC Home Games.

Busy but fun times ahead - thanks to all our great clients, our amazing Mint Command team and all the brilliant stakeholders, suppliers and partners that we are fortunate to work with! Far too many to tag in on this post but you all know who you are!

Last week saw us deploy back out to Singapore to assist the T100 Triathlon World Tour for their 2025 Singapore event.

Working closely with our friends at MetaSport we assisted them to ensure the Event Command Centre (Event Control) delivered the support to the event that was required.

Being next to the Marina Bay Sands and having the ‘slightly hotter and humid weather’ was a constant reminder that we were out of the UK.

Thanks to Kat Valk for asking us to assist for the second year in a row and thanks to everyone else that we worked with for making the event so enjoyable.

It is always a great pleasure to support our clients with the delivery of tabletop exercises. This year we have been supporting with more readiness testing than ever before.

With great team work we often split the work in terms of who prepares the exercise and who subsequently facilitates and supports with the actual session.

Thanks to all of our clients that put their faith in us and as always, thanks to our great team that jump in to help make these the success that they are.

Tabletop Exercises…. Do you have them for your events?��

Benjamin Franklin once said: “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”��

We are now over a week into the new year and it’s the time when the planning ramps up for many of our clients. Hours of work goes into ensuring things are just as needed for the big event delivery periods. However, how many organisers have plans in place but don’t look to test these plans?�

Our tabletop exercises over the past decade have caused many healthy debates and seen some great solutions to the scenarios posed. These have then helped inform revisions to plans and contingencies that were already in place.

No one wants an event to fail and sadly on too many occasions our scenarios have become reality, especially with the great weather challenges that the UK can experience. By having a tabletop exercise our clients have had confidence in their own ability to deal with not only the scenarios tested but also their internal management and communication structures to deal with whatever issue comes up.

Tabletop exercises or ‘readiness testing’ can be conducted in person or online with ease and can be as simple or complex as required. Some opt for a 2 hours on line package for a small group, while others may choose a much longer time window for larger groups in person at a venue of their choice.

As we have already got many of our usual event’s tabletop exercises booked in for 2025, it’s time for us to prompt others to consider whether they wish to have their own tabletop exercise.

Happy New Year everyone!

After a very full on 2024 we are now filling the diary with bookings for 2025.

In 2024 we had the pleasure of managing and supported with many different events including:
Premier League Football
Major League Baseball
Monster Jam
Athletics
Concerts
Marathons
Half Marathons
Other running events
Triathlons
Cycling
Hiking
Sailing
Carnival
Remembrance Service
Charity Stair Climb
Christmas Markets
and a rather large fireworks event to conclude the year!

These events were across the UK and a number of them involved international travel!

We also delivered a number of training sessions and created and facilitated many bespoke tabletop exercises to support our clients in being totally prepared for their events.

Thanks to all of our clients for having the faith in us and asking us back year after year. We might not post on social media regularly but we are truly grateful to all of you and all of the different partners that we get to work with during the planning and operational delivery phases.

As always the hugest of thank you’s to the Mint Command team that work long hours with enthusiasm and passion to promote our services and reputation!

Our diary may already have a lot of commitments for this new year however we have space for our team to assist clients past, present and new with making their event a success. Please get in contact if we can help you in any way.

The past weekend had our biggest deployment to date! Not only did we manage the set up and operation of the event control rooms to support London Marathon Events, we provided 35 'MC' team members to support in the control room. The team undertook a collection of command, control and communication functions including overall room management, radio control, phone operators and loggists. In total we had 128 people in the room (plus a few guests visiting), working in harmony to support in the delivery of the 2024 Ford Ride London event.

The event itself saw us operating more modest size control rooms in Essex for the Friday and Saturday Stages 1 and 2 of the Classique event as part of the 2024 Women's WorldTour.

Then Sunday - the big one! Based in a very well known London Control Room set up, the operations saw the best of team working with partner agencies from Central London through to the far end of Essex.

Why have 1 event when you can have 3:
- a closed road sportive starting at Victoria Embankment in central London, travelling out into Essex and returning to finish on Tower Bridge, with three route options of 30, 60 or 100 miles.
- the ability to cycle on a traffic-free eight-mile circuit and see some of Central London's most well known locations.
- Stage 3 of the Classique event.

Has any other single control room across the globe had more than 128 people colocated on one floor of a building to deliver such an operation? For those that question whether all the roles were need - they were!

A great event that not only promotes the health benefits of riding a bike but also raises millions for charity.

Thank you to everyone that supported us in what ever role you did to help make our event control rooms successful. Also thanks to those on the ground working long hours to produce each part of the event that you worked on and for communicating with us so well!

AJ BELL WORLD TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – SUNDERLAND 2023

4 of the MC Team worked at the AJ Bell World Triathlon Championship Series in Sunderland last weekend. This consisted of a 1500 metre Swim with sea temp of 13.6 degrees on Sunday morning followed by 36.8 km cycling and then running for 10km. We watched in awe the Standard and Elite races take place plus all the amateur age groups including the little ones aged 4-11 on Saturday. They had such a great time! Sunderland has made us feel very welcome. Not to be left out, we ran as well… the Event Control room!! It was great team working to support on a very prestigious event. Thousands of riders took part in the classic 54-mile London to Brighton Bike Ride on Father’s Day last Sunday raising lots of money for the British Heart Foundation and other charities.

We had 9 members of our team in the event control room supporting with radio communications to teams on the ground, answering phone calls from participants and residents and the overall management of the event control room.

Having supported with this event since 2016 it is always a pleasure to return to Brighton and catch up with the same faces from the various stakeholders and partner agencies that help make this a great event.

We can’t believe a week has passed since Ford RideLondon! As well as supporting with event control rooms on the Friday and Saturday, 28 of our team were deployed to work in one of the biggest control rooms in the UK last Sunday.

One thing is for sure that our team, partners and colleagues are looked after with food and kept hydrated which is so important when we are working very long days!
This is just our snack table, breakfast and lunches also served!
