Welsh indie-roots six piece are coming to Oxford next year...

They have been tearing up stages around the globe since 2010. Brandishing their distinct folk-roots sound armed with an electrifying mix of rampant fiddle, slick guitars, hooky mandolins and banjos melodies underpinned by tight pulsating drums and bass, they really are a force to be reckoned with.

Their latest album “Under a Bloodshot Moon” stormed the Official UK Folk Albums Chart straight in at Number 2 with no label backing, highlighting the support of their dedicated fanbase. Have a listen and grab a ticket before they're gone!

TOMORROW: return to Cowley Road to celebrate the release of their upcoming EP at The Bullingdon. They’ll be joined by 3 brilliant support bands showcasing some of the area’s best new music...

Having released their debut EP just over a year ago and celebrating with a sellout show at The Jericho Tavern, Suspire expect no less this time around. It’s set to be an amazing evening of music and a bank holiday Sunday filled with sun and celebrations.

Suspire are a 3-piece based in Oxford, but members hail from Newcastle to Devon. The band formed as songwriters Sam and Zin began writing together in the house they were living in, bringing in mutual friend Emily to complete the core lineup. Sonically, Suspire offer a nostalgic nod to the heyday of Britpop, blending infectious melodies with lyricism that dovetails direct social commentary, with ambiguous introspection. Both sides of their musical coin harness the essence of modern life, and with their second EP on the horizon this summer, Suspire intend on making a splash, and don't plan to stop until they're a fixture on festival main stages.

There comes a day when you look around and wonder “is the world a raging bin fire, or is it perimenopause?” The answer, my friend, is “yes”.
Authentic, curious, and gleefully irascible, storyteller and comedian Desiree Burch leads a madcap voyage through the Middle Ages - AKA the mid-life crisis, and its mandatory metamorphosis – in her new standup hour. Desiree brings both childlike wonder and crone-like wit to the experiences of losing sleep, relevance, knee cartilage, oestrogen, youth, and illusions in a laugh-packed hour that celebrates the fury and freedom found when you’ve accepted that time has ruined your plans, but roll up your sleeves to fight it anyway.

NOVEMBER: Lack of Afro’s biggest ever UK tour is coming to Oxford!

A titan of the UK funk and soul scene for close to two decades, (AKA Adam Gibbons) recently re-found his love of playing live. With a hugely successful UK tour last year, his first in over 5 years, Lack of Afro announced the 'Love Dealer' tour last month to coincide with the release of the new track 'Make It Shine’. Not content with that, Adam and his band have now extended that run of shows with an additional seven going on sale for this November.

Current single ‘Make It Shine’ is a funk & soul beacon catching the glare of the glitterball: Greg Blackman’s silky-smooth vocals are the cause for hip-hip-hoorays & Saturday night fever - and with its celebratory disco strings and guitars, the pair prove once again that music remains the answer. Premiered on Chris Hawkins’ BBC Radio 6 Music show and with further support from long time champion Craig Charles, the single has also been sat proudly on the Jazz FM playlist for 6 weeks.

The Lack of Afro live show really is something to behold. The band is made up of the same players that stormed the UK in November 2024: drums, keys/Hammond, Brass, guitar and stunning vocals from the force of nature that is Jonah Hitchens and bass, BV’s, saxophone and percussion from the head honcho, Adam Gibbons. Most are classically trained and multi-instrumentalists (which results in some dynamic on-stage swapping without ever missing a beat); the 6-piece band will take you on a journey like no other - whipping through Lack of Afro's huge, well-loved back catalogue and showcasing exactly why both the band and the performance was the talk of the town from each and every show last year.

This summer will see Lack of Afro grace the stage at festivals such as Camp Bestival and Wychwood as well bringing news on the new Lack of Afro album 'Love Dealer' and further singles to come. Come and get involved in what is guaranteed to be an incredibly special year of Lack of Afro.

MARCH 2026: Following an astonishing sell out show in Feb and currently taking the UK by storm, return to Oxford in 2026 with their Buena Vista Social Club tribute... courtesy of

Is there a more iconic Cuban album than Buena Vista Social Club’s eponymous debut? Winning the Grammy for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album, it remains a high watermark not just for Cuban music but world music as a whole, having been only one of two non-English speaking albums to be included in Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest albums of all time list...

Doing this album any sort of justice is no easy task, but there isn't anyone better than Sambroso Noda, the beating heart of London’s Cuban community and flourishing music scene. He has whipped up a bonafide ‘all star’ group of Cuban musicians who will pay their own unique and loving tribute to the landmark album.

The 7-piece all star band promise to mesmerise the crowd with their combination of Cuban Son, Latin Jazz and Rumba, from Cuba’s Golden era.

COMING UP IN SEPTEMBER: launches her highly anticipated new album, Yolanda.

One of Oxford's best acts, Emma's smoky, agile vocals weave evocative stories over ornate and occasionally looped guitar, accompanied by the elegant drums of Tom Bruce, and more recently Hayley Wright (Harry Angel, Beaker) on bass. The duo has won plaudits across the county, including song-of-the-year awards from both Nightshift magazine and radio show The Melting Pot, but has also received critical acclaim from far further afield. The Other Side Reviews sums up the Hunter sound perfectly, "Taking inspiration from artists like Portishead, The Shangri-Las, Imogen Heap, and the soundtracks of David Lynch films, UK-based Emma Hunter skates along flamenco music with a dark art-rock sound".

Support comes from: -

+ .twin, whose intense, cathartic songs skirt the edges of goth gloom on their way to pop pleasure
"A typical track merges thick treacly bass, heart-wrenching vocals, and euphoric keys, so that you’re not sure whether to dance, weep, or collapse in the corner" Nightshift

+ 's femme fatale folk
"Mystical, drama-laden female harmonies-led trip-pop is going to haunt your every midnight hour" Nightshift.

OCTOBER: A welcome return to the UK for and band, playing .rooms1 at The Bullingdon on Tuesday 21st October...

Los Angeles born Singer/songwriter Lilly Hiatt's work straddles strong country influences and tough, guitar-based rock, and her lyrics are unflinchingly personal missives about complicated relationships and the rocky side of life's road. She found her voice on her first two solo albums, 2012's Let Down and 2015's Royal Blue, while 2017's Trinity Lane took a harder lyrical edge as sobriety and a bad romantic breakup informed her songs. 2021's Lately was a set of low-key, personal tunes with a strong country accent, and 2025's Forever added alternative rock guitars to a collection of songs recorded at home and written during a period of emotional transition.

NOVEMBER: are coming to Oxford! 🙌

--
‘Fickle Friends, the Brighton-based indie pop band known for their vibrant synth-pop sound, are back after a brief hiatus with new music and a summer of festivals and live dates ahead. Following their acclaimed albums You Are Someone Else (2018) and Are We Gonna Be Alright? (2022), the band took a break in 2023 to reset and returned in late 2024 with fresh energy, releasing singles like Feral and Dream.

In 2025, Fickle Friends have continued their comeback with a string of new singles, including the shimmering Swoon and infectious Happier, showcasing a refined, emotionally-charged sound that blends nostalgic synths with lyrical depth. The response has been electric—the band sold out their first London show back from hiatus in just five minutes, a clear sign that their fanbase is as loyal and hungry as ever. With a third album announcement just around the corner, FickleFriends are gearing up for a landmark year—back and better than ever.’
