The Annual General Meeting of the Committee of Management of Otford Village Memorial Hall will take place in the Club Room at 8.00pm on Wednesday 22nd September 2021.
2020/1 has been a difficult year or so for the Hall. Come and hear what we have done to overcome the many difficulties encountered and what we have done to overcome them and what improvements have been made to the facilities whilst we were closed.
Do remember that this is YOUR village hall and the Trustees need your support.
If you would like an Agenda or a set of Minutes of the 2020 AGM please contact Ron Dullage, Secretary to the Trustees on e-mail: [email protected] or call 07887 780 576.

That time that we have all been waiting for, a return to the "new normal", will soon be upon us but did you realise that there are some events that we can host now?

We are open for children's parties as long as they are either "Out of School activities" or are being run by a professional entertainer?

Also, because we are a Covid Secure venue, we are a bit like a pub/restaurant. We can have 50% of the normal capacity to ensure social distancing as long as we don’t sit more than 6 people closer than 2 metres from another group of 6. Each group of six can consist of 6 individuals from 6 different households. However, once a group of 6 has been formed they can’t socially interact with any other group of 6 at that meeting of event.

We appreciate that this is all a bit complicated but if you would like to hold an event at the Hall why not contact Robin, the Bookings Secretary, either on 01959 525181 or e-mail him (better idea!) at [email protected]. He'll be happy to explain the current rules to you.

Many of you may not have seen the Players' Hall and kitchen since we undertook the refurbishment recently. Well, we haven't been sitting on our laurels and much more work has been going on during the period when we have been closed. Come along and see what a brilliant facility we now have in the village.

At 8:00pm on Thursday 22nd October we will be holding the Annual General Meeting of the Committee of Management of Otford Village Memorial Hall. The meeting will be in the Players Hall (the largest of our halls) to allow for social distancing.

We try to make these meetings really interesting and we will be talking about the recent refurbishment of the Player's Hall, our plans for the continuing refurbishment of the complex and the issues that the Covid-19 outbreak has generated for the Hall. If you haven't seen the changes that we have made to the Player's Hall it's worth coming along if only to have a look!

Although the Trustees look after the day-to-day management of the Hall, ultimately, it belongs to you, the hirers and local residents. If you would like a copy of the Agenda for the meeting or a copy of the Minutes of the 2019 AGM please e-mail [email protected] or phone the Hall Manager on 07787 780 576.

We hope to see you there.

Well, after what seems like a lifetime, we are delighted to announce that the Hall will be available for bookings from Monday 6th July. Obviously, this is subject to the Government guidelines which could change at any time and we are not, currently, allowed to run all of the events that normally take place in the Hall.

If you would like to book the Hall for your event or you want to know more about which groups will be returning, just contact the Bookings Secretary either by e-mail (preferable) on [email protected] or call him on 01959 525181.

We'll do our best to keep this information up-to-date as soon as we get clarification from the Government and other statutory bodies.

We hope to see you soon.

Well, as I am sure you can imagine, the Hall is completely closed down. We have put a provisional date of 1st June to reopen but, obviously, that's all down to the government's lockdown plans. Have a horrible suspicion that it could be a fair bit later in the year than that!

Still, it has given us a chance to do a bit of painting, the new curtains and blinds in the Players' Hall are now all up and there has been lots of clearing and tidying up going on. We hope that you like it.

For those who don't know, Ron stood down as Hall Manager at the end of February. Ron and his wife were planning to move away from the area during the summer months although that plan has all rather been put on hold. However, we do have a new Hall Manager called Dave Birchall and his contact details are the same as Ron's, i.e. tel: 07887 780 576 or e-mail: ovmh.manager@otford net. Ron is staying on for the time being as both a Trustee and as Secretary to the Trustees so I am sure that you will continue to see him both down at the Hall and generally around the village.

In appreciation of the very generous donation given to us by the now (sadly) defunct Otford Players, the Main Hall, i.e. the biggest of our halls and with the stage, has now been renamed the Players Hall.

01/09/2019

It's been a while since I posted anything on here. That's largely due to the fact that I have been up to my neck in the refurbishment of the Main Hall. It's nearly complete and so I'll post some pictures later this week. I hope that you think that it has been worth the wait.
