Steeped in history Normanton Church retains a timeless architectural elegance. Deconsecrated in 1970, it offers a wonderful unique venue with its stunning design and water front location and is available for civil ceremonies. Its once threatened existence adds to the enchanting ambience of Normanton Church, which now stands a surviving treasure of the past. Saved from the reservoir floor, the only thing flooding this venue is light. The many windows illuminate the arched interior and offer picturesque views out across the water. Exquisite beauty radiates in waves from this grade II listed building, built in the classical style. The church, originating from medieval times, was re-designed in 1826-9 by Thomas Cundy and his son, surveyors to the Grosvenor estate in Westminster. A Rutland icon, Normanton Church is stylistically evocative and a truly novel civil ceremony venue. This setting is guaranteed to create cherished memories doused in romanticism. Looking for a unique Wedding Venue? Come along and see Rutland's most Iconic landmark Normanton Church, at Rutland Water on our Wedding Viewing Mornings.

We have two dates for your diary this winter:-

Sunday 15th November 2026 from 10am to 12pm
Sunday 24th January 2027 from 10am to 12pm

Normanton Church will be dressed and displayed as it would be set up for a wedding with a member of our weddings team present to answer any questions about holding your special day here!

Please park in the main Normanton car park (LE15 8HD) No booking required. We hope to see you there!
