Two charities who have links with St. Mary's are finalists in the Teesside Charity Golden Giveaway. BiG KIDS who do wonderful work with young people across Teesside are already known to many members of the parish. Amala Wellness, who run ‘Keep Moving Teesside’ at the Church Hall say ‘we … support older adults living in rural Teesside and people affected by dementia. This funding would help us to provide activities and support that reduce loneliness and isolation and help people live a happier, healthier later life.’ If you would like to vote for either of these deserving charities (it’s free to vote) please visit

Each group is guaranteed £500, and the winner will receive a massive £5,000! Only one vote per email address. Voting will close on the 1pm on Wednesday 24th June – GOOD LUCK!

What do John Dowland, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Vin Garbutt have in common?
You can hear songs by all three performed at St. Mary's Church on Sunday, 14th June 2026, at 2.00 pm!
Our performers are Charlotte Potter, Julian Tovey and Rob Nash, accompanied by Stephen Robertson and Nurry Lee, and it promises to be a truly exceptional afternoon of music.

I'm enjoying looking through this parish magazine from July 1966 - the year that St Mary's turned 50! It's good to see that back in 1966 there was a service of morning prayer (or Mattins) most Sundays as this is how we will be worshipping on Sunday 19th July as we attempt to recreate a service as it would have been when the church opened.

Our centenary concert with Charlotte Potter, Julian Tovey and Rob Nash is this Sunday, 14th June, at 2.00 pm in church.
The music to be performed ranges from songs by Handel and Purcell to ones by Vangelis and Vin Garbutt. There are well-known standards and lesser known pieces too, all performed by three outstanding vocal talents.
There are a limited number of tickets (£5 each) still available from Ticketsource https://www.ticketsource.com/st-mary-the-virgin-church and we would suggest buying your tickets in advance as they are selling quite quickly now, so there may not be any left on the door.
See you on Sunday!
